So I thought I only would SuperLather my Martin de Candre soap with my 50+ creams.

Then my GF silently order these 3 soaps for me Shy

D R Harris Shaving Soap & Dark Oak Bowl (Almond)

D R Harris Shaving Soap & Dark Oak Bowl (Arlington)

D R Harris Shaving Soap & Dark Oak Bowl (Windsor)

Are they decent ?
By the the way I already own all 3 in cream pot versions !

You're in for a treat, the D.R Harris soaps create a very slick and protective lather. I like Arlington the best, the scent is refined and perfect for spring and summer Cool

How do you guys think DR Harris soaps are compared to MWF, Tabac and Boellis ?

A step down ?

I would say the soaps are equal at least Claus, not less in quality. I like the scents Arlington and Windsor. You will like them I'm sure

Your girlfriend is a keeper for sure, Claus.

Harris soaps compare very favorably to all three, IMO, being easy to lather (and easier than MWF), and with better scents than Tabac and Boellis.

I have D.R. Harris lavender and almond soaps, and they are wonderful! Scent is light on the almond but still very nice; certainly on a par with MWF.

Claus, I don't think you can compare the D R Harris hard soap, to the others you mention. MWF, Tabac or Boellis. They are so very different, and each has their own merits to give the end user.

All of D R Harris products are outstanding........ Your GF has made an excellent choice for you. Enjoy.

Congrats Claus, you are now the proud owner of my favorite English shaving soap! DR Harris will be trickier to lather than Tabac and Boellis, but much easier than MWF. I have actually been using DR Harris Marlborough soap exclusively since February 1st and enjoy the performance immensely. My suggestion for lathering would be to load for about twice the amount of time that you do with Tabac or Boellis and then keep adding water until the lather is a bit on the thin side (more like whipped cream than yogurt). This will give you a great balance of slickness (which tends to be DR Harris weakest trait) and cushion (this is where DR Harris shines). You will notice that DR Harris is a very "thirsty" soap and you may need to load with a slightly wetter brush than you are used to, especially compared to MDC and creams.

I never could get a good shave from Harris soaps and I have no idea why. They would whip up into a beautiful thick lather that felt nice and slick..but for some reason every shave ended up with weepers, irritation and leaving my face dry/tight feeling..which is rare for me with my oily skin.
