No, this is not a Russian cream, although Vostok is reputed to be the coldest place on Planet Earth. This stuff is made by Queen Charlotte Soaps, and it is ALMOST, but NOT quite, quite as frigid as Iced Subzero cream or soap. Here's the actual review:

Ease of lathering: 10/10--Very easy. Use a fairly wet brush, and you'll be rewarded with awesome lather.

Longevity of lather: 10/10--Super-stable. Multi-passes are so easy.

General skincare: 8/10--Extremely cooling with good protection against dryness and irritation.

Scent: 8/10--Lovely. Menthol with a noticeable peppermint note.

Price: 8/10--Quite reasonably priced. Good-sized tub as well.

Would I buy again: 10/10--Oh heavens, yes! Without a question!

I normally stay away from artisan creams and soaps, but there several exceptions, and this is definitely one of them. This stuff has a delicious pepperminty/mentholy scent with great lather, and a cooling, or I should say a frigid effect that can make your nose run, and put tears in your eyes. (and icicles in your face!)

Great Review Jeff, I was a little worried that I might have overblown Vostok, but I just really was impressed with how great a shave cream it really was.

As the temps are routinely topping 90 here in Florida nowadays, this croap is back in rotation!

Coming from a MenthHead, this review couldn't have more weight behind it. Thanks for another outstanding review Jeff and I'm glad you found another soap/cream to add to your very small rotation! Wink

I agree with this review 100%, it's a fantastic product that should satisfy any menthol head. I was so shocked by the face freeze I was laughing a little while using it. I had no idea anything could be this cold!

And unfortunately it mimics many portfolios right now. It is always dwindling despite regular additions! Wink

Great review, another cream to add to my stockpile. I haven't sampled any Queen Charlotte Soaps (YET), where's the best place to order online?

The only place is http://www.queencharlottesoaps.com

I haven't tried the Vostok (I will soon) but I love the Tangerine soap. It's a great performer.
