Hi guys
I'm fairly new to the hobby and have just a few creams and soaps. Pretty neutral scent-wise. (Nivea, real shaving co, prep menthol)

I'm looking for suggestions and your help finding a soap that has a wood smell. Kinda like freshly cut wood (pine, cedar wood perhaps). Something like how a forest smells in the spring after it just rained.
I would really love your help. I have a tight budget so planning on getting samples first.

Thanks!!

Mike's Natural Pine & Cedarwood is one of my favourites (well, ALL of Mike's soaps are favourites...) and smells much like a forest is supposed to smell in my opinion - and Mike sells samples Smile

Stirling Soaps Coniferous (also offered as a sample). A blast of mountainous woodsy goodness.

A few I like:

Stirling Ozark Mountain
Stirling Coniferous
Stirling Scotts Pine
LA Shaving Soap Woody Lavender

FYI-Stirling's samples are the best bang for the buck out there. Huge sample pucks.

Anyone have a feel for the Strop Shoppe teak? Have seen one call it sweetish wood and another saying he heard it was leathery.

+1
It is his best IMO. My tin is almost done and I use it sparingly.

I've used SS Teak and it has a nice wood scent. A little more subtle than Mike's Pine and Cedar.

Mystic Waters Cedar and Sage, and then the Bergamot, Cedarwood, Juniper

Queen Charlotte Soaps/Creams Celestial Woods and although not truely woodsy, a pleasant darker bay rum would be Cayman

I'm a bit surprised no one suggested Castle Forbes Cedarwood-Sandalwood. The cedar part is quite dominant.

D.R. Harris Marlborough is missing, too. You should also consider Saint Charles Shave's Woods and QED's Lemon and Cedarwood. There is no shortage of woodsy scents from the artisans.

Many Thanks. I just placed an order at striling for some specific ones recommended. Mike's natural is out of stock on most of his. These other ones are definitely on my list. Thank you gents. I got a lot of homework on these scents. Love it.

1. Mystic Water: Sandalwood Rose, Vanilla Sandalwood, and Mysore Sandalwood.
2. Strop Shoppe Special Edition Teak Wood--a dynamite wood scent that gets little discussion on the forums. It will be available again for a limited time next Tuesday.
3. If you're set on pine and cedar, I agree with the recommendations for Mike's Pine and Cedarwood.
