Has anyone heard of fake Gillette Silver Blues? The reason I ask is I just had a shave with a GSB I just purchased from an ebay vendor and it was a rough shave. Nothing like the shaves I normally get from GSB's. The labelling in the blade also looked like it was poorly done. It could just be a bad shave but I've heard of fake iridiums and I'm curious if anyone has heard anything about fake GSBs?

I have never heard of fake blades. Gillette Silver Blues is definitely one of my top three blades.

It's possible.
On the side of the cardboard tuck does it say "St. Petersburg" or "St. Betersburg"?

Might have been a bum blade. Does it have 4 wax dots or 2? Mine have 4 dots of really thick wax. I use the old blade to scrape off the wax from the new blade before use. On mine the wax is thick enough to distort the blade.

I have also never heard of fake GSBs, so you may just have had a poor blade. Good luck.

I haven't heard of fake GSB's either. I have read about fake PSI's though (hence the "St Betersburg" question).

4 heavy wax dots. Must have been a bad blade.

I haven't heard of any fakes but when I first tried the Silver Blues a few years ago I hated them because they felt so rough. Turns out it must have been some bad blades because I've since used quite a few Silver Blues that are excellent. I went back and tried others out of the first ones I ordered and they were still awful, everything looked good on them but they feel terrible.

Do you think maybe it was technique? I had the same experience but I was using them when I first started so I figure that's what the reason was because I love them now. All were from the same 100 pack.

It may have been a bad blade. Not common but I have run across a bad one here and there. Try again.

No, I don't think it's a technique issue. I still have some of the original bad blades I was talking about and have tried them recently with the same bad results. Same prep, setup, etc, the only difference is one batch of blades feel awful, and the rest of my SB's shave very nice.
