So today I started of with a classic Streamline / Chubby SOTD.

But the day just got better as another package from the Isle of Man arrived, containing the amber Chubby 2 in synthetic badger.

On a sunny day here in Amsterdam, NL, this brush really shines.
The amber is stunning, such a nice material for this classic handle.
Grain and finish are as fine as I can image.

I am really curious to learn how this knot will perform.
On first impressions, the knot is firm but has fine, soft tips.
Synthetics-aficionados have been suggesting a large, lower lofted and dense knot for a while now.
And that seems to be just what Simpsons have been delivering.

Big kudos to Mark, who has handled my chaotic order perfectly and in gentlemanly style and fashion.

More impressions to follow, as soon as I have had the chance to use this beauty.

The Amber looks great, nice to see that Mark came through. Please let us know the loft and your impressions.

The loft appears to be higher compared to the coral handle.

Wim, both very nice looking! What is the loft measurement on the Synthetic Chubby?

That could very well be indeed.
But looks can be deceiving, so I foresee a calipers in my near future.

:-)

Lots of requests for actual loft height, I'll see what I can do on short term to come up with a good measurement.

Three more lovely Chubby 2 brushes. For my money I will take the best badger. Hope to have one before the month is over.

Scott.

Scott, do my eyes deceive me, or does your Cobalt Chubby Synthetic look like its been on a diet? It looks demonstrably thinner (and maybe a smidgen taller) than both the Best and Manchurian.Huh

It's your eyes, or rather my photography and composition! Blush

I have measured them with digital callipers and they are all within 1mm in all aspects of each other, the Manchurian is actually the tallest of the three by 0.5mm . With exception of loft. Smile

Scott, I am actually a bit surprised you don't have one in Super.
That is my favourite hair from them, besides the 2-band which is too expensive for me now.
I must have an older Chubby 2 Super knot as it is magnificent; very soft and extremely dense! Biggrin
I have tried two of their newer Chubby 2 knots and don't find them comparable to the one I have.

Thanks Johnny, if I am absolutely honest, the original best is still my favourite! You shouldn't be disappointed. It was my first big brush, a step up from a Duke 2, and I haven't looked back.

I have been tempted, I have a store not too far from me that has it in stock, but recently far too many BST post have taken my Chubby super funds away! Biggrin The biggest culprit being my Butterscotch Chubby.
