I am thinking of buying a Cobra razor. I almost hate to ask this question based upon all the comments I have read here, but how prevalent are cosmetic problems with the recently produced Cobra razors? Is it just one or two razors that show signs that the molds may be wearing out? Or is it a pervasive problem? I am not a perfectionist, but I don't want to spent close to $200 and get a cosmetically shoddy product. Also, do any of the problems go beyond cosmetics? Thank you for your input.

Hi Eric,

First off I have owned two Cobras one of the older first production run and another of the last run production models and the only difference was the Cobra engraving on the bottom of the handle. Other then that both were almost flawless fit and finish razors with no issues and both gave outstanding shaves. Its my understanding Classic Shaving is modifying a new Cobra model and release date has not been set. On their website it says out of stock but you can submit your email for notification when they will be released. Like most guys I am just waiting to see what happens.

Thanks Jerry. I have signed up for notification. I am at the upper limit of what I am willing to spend, and I assume the Cobra 2 will be more expensive. I tried the Cobra on one of the Cobra tours and I really don't know how the shave could improve. I used the Kai Mild blades and had some of the best shaves of my life.

I picked mine up several months ago and it looks good overall. The font has changed to block lettering at the base of the handle and the cosmetic issues are minimal, it is equal in quality to the first few batches of cobra's released.

Nobody knows except Classic Shaving. The improvements has nothing to do with the shave quality which is outstanding but more to improve build quality. The Kai mild blades are the best.

Correct, John.

This is a release of the Cobra Classic ... no official word on the Cobra2 yet.

They are indeed selling briskly. There were 50 available earlier today ... now down to 14.

I went ahead and snagged one before Ben could get to it. LOL!

I own 4 of the original script and won't be buying another Cobra Classic.

I will be purchasing a Cobra 2 when it is released later this year.

I have been waiting many months to try this razor as I missed it last time it was in stock... so there was really no getting out of ordering one Biggrin

Also ordered the Kai Milds from Phil. Hopefully I will be able to catch a Cobra 2 when it finally releases.
