I had no idea the size of this brush and handle. All I can say is wow! Although the hair is the best quality from Simpson it feels more like my super it is so soft! It feels awesome on my face. I'm not quite sure if I can ever fully get used to rhe size of the brush. I may end up trying to trade this for a polo 8?
Question... how does the polo 10 compare to the polo 8 in the size of the handle? Also, for those of you who have used both, how is the feel on the face as far as the knot size? is there a substantially smaller difference between the two?

I don't think there is a huge difference in handle heigh between the 8 and the 10. The main handle difference is girth. This is particularly reflected in the knots with where I think you'll find the biggest difference. I use a 12 and don't find it too big!!!

12 vs 10 (Chubby 3 in between)

10 vs 8 (And a few others for size comparison)

A bit off topic - the Chubby says "Extra Super" that's the first I've seen of that.

I have a Polo 8 and honestly can't imagine using a larger brush. They should make a Polo 6 or something Blush

That was the Somerset designation of Manchurian.

Carter Era if you really want to split hairs!

The Extra Super aka Manchurian is a big brush, but I enjoy using it. It has better flow through and a little more sensation than my Chubby 3 Super. I have the new Manchurian in a Chubby 3 too...

Used my PL 12 the other day and really enjoyed it I had no issue in keeping the lather where I intended to shave.

I have a PL 14 too, I haven't used it yet, but I'm up to the challenge!

Due to the BULB shaped knot in the Polo 12 and the HYBRID FAN shaped knot in the Polo 10, the two brushes had similar size feel on the face.

The PL12 however felt denser and more concentrated, while the PL10 felt almost bigger, less backbone and had improved flow through.

I'd like to compare with the current Manchurian Polo...

Was anyone lucky enough to pick up a Polo 8 Manchurian? I was too slow, or too tempted by other handles...

I recently saw a Polo 10 Manchurian pictured with the large Simpsons shaving mug, anyone have one of these or know if they are going to be listed for sale on the Simpsons website?

The PL10 in Manchurian would be my choice out of the 2...

Perhaps Colonel is worth a look...

Similar shape to the Polo, but a bit smaller.... (like a Polo 6?)

I'll have to take a side by side pic of the PL8 and the Colonel
(PL8 is about 115mm tall vs 110mm tall Colonel)

I like the shape of the 10 (more fan) much better than the 8 beside it. There is z big difference in shape represented there.

Are all Polo 8's like that one? The shape on the 10 may be best for me if so.

The hybrid fan shaped knot on the Pre-Vulfix Polo 10 is somewhat of an anomaly especially in light of the current focus on bulb shaped knots at Simpsons. The older Simpsons often featured this knot, but now it's become rather an oddity.

The Polo 8 beside it (or second from the right) is unused in that picture and hence appears even more bulbous. It will splay a little when it blooms with use.

To get a true fan shape and a similar handle, you could consider Rooney or M&F. Their version of the Polo handle is called the "Urn". Lee Sabini (of M&F fame) runs a quasi bespoke brush making business and is able to accommodate most requests including fan shaped knots.

Rudy Vey is another brush maker that would be able to help too.

Otherwise it may be worth contacting Mark (from Simpsons) to see if they can assist with a hybrid knot.

I may be the benchmark for extreme on the BAD scale, but currently with each new brush acquisition, other brushes from my existing collection are being sacrificed to finance them and ensure overcrowding doesn't reach a critical point...

I definitely have too many brushes to justify any further purchases. My only chance at rationalizing new brushes is by selling neglected ones. Manchurian has captured my attention and given the level of investment required for each one, more brushes are leaving than arriving.

That said I am happy in the knowledge that my AD is serving a greater purpose - Minimising AD related conflicts with SWMBO for my fellow shaving enthusiasts!

I enjoy sharing my collection among like minded people and commend you all for being able to manage your AD's better than I!

More pics soon gentlemen... Wink
