I just found a plce that sells this Acca Kappa soap in a wooden bowl, not for cheap, it's €65.

Same place I also found they had 2 left of old stock Acqua di parma pot creams. They also sell Xpec, but the scented Xpec is out of stock now.

So has anyone tried the Acca Kappa soap ?
Can you recommedn it ?

I own the now discontinued Acca Kappa 1869 cream in the pot....great stuff.....

I love the Cream.

The soap bowl is BIG and beautiful, but I haven't tried it... yet!

The EdT is wonderful too.

I've used (and finished) a puck of AK White Moss soap, and it was mediocre. The AK 1869 cream was far superior.

I have a few of the small AK White Moss pucks and I agree they are NOT inspiring at all.
I found the lather foamy, lacking in cushion and would break down easily.
I wasn't a fan of the scent either (in stark contrast to the 1869 which I LOVE the smell of).

The AK WM did come with a beautiful little wooden bowl though...

That is one gorgeous brush! I've not heard much in the way of good things about the AK soap. The old cream in the bowl is truly outstanding.

Great pics as always, Ben [Image: Smilie-TakingPhotograph.gif]

I think I will then stay with my trusted Acca Kappa 1869 cream/croap and forget about the soap.

Just sad all these great products are being discontinued Dodgy

Acca Kappa 1869 Pot
Acqua di parma Pot
Xpec Scented
Santa Maria Novella
and the list goes on.....

BTW I also own the Acca Kappa 1869 EDT - really good solid fragrance.....reminds me a bit of Dior Fahrenheit and Chanel Allure Homme mixed together.

Beautiful shot, Ben. Thumbup

Personally, I loved the scent and at one time, viewed it as an alternative to Pen's EF. I used the White Moss AS, and loved it, but the soap was sorely lacking.

I'm hoping the 1869 soap will perform better than the White Moss, I'll try it tomorrow...

Online retailer? I've been looking for this bowl but hard to find since out of production at a price that's not insane.

Bill, I'm hesitant to use my 1869 Soap Bowl as I didn't particularly enjoy the White Moss, I may just list it UNUSED on the BST...

Hi Ben, I'd be interested if you ever decided to part ways with it, thanks.

The cream was pretty awesome stuff - sounds like it's been permanently discontinued?

There were rumors of a reformulation but it's been long enough that I have my doubts.

It seems that nobody's tried the 1869 soap? I've often wondered if it is any good for lathering. It will be disappointing if it's no better than the White Moss soap is reported to be.

I purchased the 1869 soap in the wenge bowl mostly for the beautiful heavy wood bowl. I had been looking for such a wood bowl for some time and it just happened to come with soap. The scent was nice but the performance poor. It was one of very few soaps that I relegated to the shower. The bowl is now full of MDC Fougere. I purchased a tube of 1869 cream and am pleased with how it performs.

For fans of the old AC 1869 croap/cream - Dovo shaving cream/soap & RR 888/King Louis are reported to be the same formulation made by the same bulk manufacturer viz Cibe Labs in Italy. A quick glance at the ingredient list of all 3 products adds to the evidence.

I've used both and the Dovo was AK like, but not the same at all. The scent was similar, but the lather was not. not that it was bad at all, but not the same quality as the AK...IMO

I can testify this.
Also bought the Dovo Almond expecting it to perform like my AK 1869, which it did not. Not a poor cream per se, but not magic like my AK 1869 is.

Claus, the AK 1869 Cream is still available @ shaving i.e based in Ireland. And as for the AK 1869 soap in the Wenge bowl, it is as been said, a very heavy bowl, but beautifully made.

Most of the cost i.e €65 is in the bowl, as a puck of AK 1869 soap is around €24

The soap really is top notch and rightly so...........

I checked the site out, but if you zoom into the Ingredients closely enough, you can see that the first ingredient is Aqua… which is different from the previous pot version.
