What do you do with your unloved soaps and creams? The ones that I can't get a good lather I throw out, simple. The harder question is what do you do with the soaps and creams that get a decent lather, but you simply don't like the fragrance?

First, I hide them from my sight so I don't feel guilty about not using them.

Then I try to trade them.

Last I gift them to anyone who expresses interest in trying them.

MixerShave: Do you really just trash some?

PS Often try not decide on them quickly, sometimes come back months later and re-fall in love with something I forgot.

PIF ... no sense wasting them, and maybe someone else will like them better ... YMMV and all that. Smile

I've only had one bad experience with soap, Mystic Water, I used it as bath soap.

It depends on what kind of soap it is. If it is a $6 puck, it's not really worth anyone's time to pay shipping, etc. I give them away, then.

A more expensive or popular soap will get sold on BST.

First - never throw it after 1-2 tries. Ravi wrote this post about the Rule of 3 - which is on point. I personally impose a tighter rule of 10 (unless there are extenuating circumstances like allergies)

Even if the product doesn't work after 10 tries - as other have said - why throw when you can PIF/trade? I have discovered a couple of gems (for me) this way. YMMV is a stronger factor in this 'sport' then I initially expected.

I generally offer them on the BST, but sometimes I keep them in the shower to wash my face. I don't always get along with my shower gel as it leaves my face quite dry, so the shave soaps that don't cut it but smell good end up in the shower. I took a chance on a shave soap from Crabtree and Evelyn that smelled wonderful, but did not lather worth beans, but it was a lovely facial soap. The package was from 1978 and was simply called Shave Soap for Men. It had a nice English Leather type scent, but the foam it made was more like dish soap than lather and dissappeared quite quickly. It was a nice hard soap and lasted about three months as a facial soap in the shower.

Most creams get put on the BST, otherwise may end up as a pif during a sale. I recently PIF'd 2oz of Hirsh Lemon to a fella that bought a Cologne from me. I liked the AoS variety more so i decided to PIF it off to someone.

Cheers Fellas!

I got a sample set from Barrister & Mann, inside was a sample of "Roam" soap. I took a sniff and instantly felt sick. I gave it to a coworker (who's teaching me to use a SR) and he had the same reaction. He threw it in the trash before it could inflict harm on anyone else.
Why someone would pay money for that is beyond me.

Other than that: BST, PIF, trash (in that order).

Pas them forward. Someone else might appreciate them. What's the point of hoarding things you'll never use?

I've only had one MW Bay Rum too bad but it did not perform, the smell developed nicely but the performance was poor and the rule of 3 was passed by many tries.....so I am going to give it to some one, anyone want it just pay for shipping CONUS only as anything else wouldn't be worth it...It is not in a bowl cause I took it out...

I prefer to PIF, trade or repurpose things that don't work for me.
Unless it is something so horrible that I would actually feel bad even giving it away; a crumbly new formula Erasmic shave stick for example (straight in the trashcan that damn thing went).

PIF or BST. Just because they do not work for me does not mean they do not work for another. Most of the time I PIF to a newbie............

I used to sell, but now I trade unwanted products. If it's really bad (e.g. nobody wants it), bath soap time.

The only dud I've encountered thus far is Mystic Water, I didn't feel right about passing it on, so I chucked it, and kept the container for some Stirling pucks.
