Probably little known is that Shavemac offers brushes designed by their customers, in this case by Geoff Anderson.

Let me present a trio of Shavemac Americanas.

From left to right: Finest 23mm x 48mm, Silvertip 25mm x 52mm, Americana 3 with WSP 23mm x 50mm.

I find the Shavemac Americanas to be beautifully constructed and very nicely weighted. The base of the brush is made from Cocobolo, a tropical hardwood from South America, and seems to be water resistant. Geoff's Americana 3 is one of my favourite handles, it's based on the 173 handle and is very comfortable.

Note the colour difference between the Shavemac Finest on the left to the Shavemac Silvertip in the middle. Despite the difference in colour, Finest is incredibly soft. That said this Finest hasn't been used, maybe I have too many Shavemacs Tongue

What a perfect knot Biggrin I've provided close-ups to show the difference between hair grades, there's not much but I find it interesting.

Shavemac Silvertip is incredibly fine hair. If you decide to go down this route, make sure you ask Bernd for a dense knot.

The Americana is a work of art and I hope Geoff designs more brush handles, he certainly has a knack for it. I highly recommend Shavemac Silvertip, however Finest represents unbelievable value for money. If you have a moment, check out Shavemac's customer designs: http://www.shavemac.com/Shaving-Brushes/...ers-styles

Thanks for reading.

I do not see the Americana 3 at shavemac and a Google search does not list a website for Geoff.

Are Geoff's brushes available direct, and if so, how?

Thanks.

One question: How resistant is the engraving?

Steve, I've lost Geoff's contact details however there is a thread on his brushes. I'm sure someone can help you.

Tony, I've had no issues with the engraving. That said I have too many brushes in my rotation and only use them once every 1-2 months.

Were these custom because the loft heights dissuaded me from purchasing. If Bernd can set custom heights, if love to own one of these. Beautiful brushes!

The A3 with the WSP knot, is that WSP's Premium silvertip or the High Mountain White 3-band? Beautiful brush, perfect proportions.

The Americana 3 is a beautiful handle, I think the WSP knot is their superfine.
