Now that the auction on eBay is completed, I can mention this shaving soap, just for general interest or disapproval or whatever. A puck of Czech & Speake Oxford and Cambridge shaving soap in a blue glass bowl sold for $168.07 shipped. Apparently, it is unclear at this point if this is going to be the new bowl in which it is sold or if it was just a prototype. The rumor is that the No. 88 soap will be offered in a black glass bowl.

I would hope that the new bowls would be offered at a more reasonable price than the current one's, but I'm not holding my breath. They are incredible bowls, but are out of reach for most people.

Yes, aluminum does not shatter when you drop it on the floor.

I agree. Part of the reason why I want the no.88 is because of the beautiful bowl. I'd still be interested if it changed to glass because of how good the soap is supposed to be, but certainly not at a similar price to the current one.

+1 to both and anodized aluminum doesn't shatter when you drop or bang it against rocks, trees, branches, benches, and the like when you are taking pics! Biggrin

Czech & Speake informed me that the glass dishes are previous version of the current ones. So this info makes them vintage which they were not produced since 2011.

That's interesting news ... I would have thought that someone would have remembered these being offered, unless they were made available in only a limited manner in the past ...

I guess I had completely missed that in the past.

... only interested if the clay pot comes filled with 'wild beast' tallow-based soap, and with the honed flint you used to shave with ... Biggrin

Well this does explain why the AS and EdT are in blue glass bottles.
