Hey guys,

Bryan here. Aftershaves - the final frontier in my wetshaving journey: unexplored, uncharted territory.

So far, I've used the following:

Captain Choice Bay Rum - love the smell, but the burn is too much for me

Proraso Green Splash - love it, fantastic performance, very nice scent. soothing, healing, rejuvenating, mmm.

Clubman (Bay Rum, Classic, Vanilla, The Veg - GF gets DISGUSTED by it, Special Reserve) - They're okay. My favorite of the ones I've tried is Special Reserve. BIG fan of the scent - not so much the feel. I don't get the sensation that I'm helping or improving my skin by using these aftershaves. I use them because I have them in bulk haha.

Balms: Nivea Sensitive Skin, Nivea Replenish, GFT Skin Food (great stuff), East African Shea Butter -- skin food takes the cake. I had a sample of L'Occtane Cade Balm that was excellent but that's pretty pricey and didn't want to spend the money at the time.

For whatever reason, I've been using my Proraso sparingly, when it is by far the best AS I've encountered for my skin type.

With all that in mind, what aftershaves do you good folks here at TSN recommend? I favor performance over scent - I look for a soothing, cooling and healing feeling. I strive for no burn, I equate pain with a bad shave and a bad time Tongue.

Scent-wise, I love earthy, vetiver, dark woody scents as well as light Proraso-like scents. (for lack of scent related IQ). MWF is one of my all time favorite smelling soaps. Mystic Water bay rum was exceptional. That's about all I got. Scent is not the highest on my priority list. Never has been Tongue

Anyways, thanks for your time and I appreciate your input!
Bryan

I should add that I'm very interested in Speick AS, Floid Blue and Myrsol Emulsion Smile. I see them pop up on SOTDs all the time!

Krampert's Finest Bay Rum is, in my opinion, one of the best products out there - the only things I have that comes close are Krampert's 80 Below and the prototype menthol he sent me a while back. What can I say... I like Brian's aftershaves Wink

I also enjoy my non-alcoholic Proraso Liquid Cream Aftershave as well the occasional splash of Thayers witch hazel.

Proraso green is also one of my favorites, and so I would say DEFINITELY get some La Toja if you like Proraso. Similar family.

I also love good 'ol Skin Bracer.

And Myrsol Limon.

If you like Captain's Choice but don't like the burn then Krampert's Finest is where you should stop your search. The moisturizing ability from the splash is perfect and the scent is so refined. I use this even on days when I don't shave.

I like Stirling's alcohol-free aftershave splashes - they are oozing with Witch Hazel and Aloe and my face loves it.

Big fan of Speick and also the the Myrsol family for performance here. Scent-wise it would probably be Floid Blue and Master Blue.

I prefer balms. Kinder and gentler than aftershaves.

For the scent you like try Bath House Spanish Fig & Nutmeg. A dab goes a long ways. Think you'll be happy with the scent based on what you posted.

It sounds like Krampert's would be a good choice for you. I would also suggest Speick or Myrsol.

Speick is very good, as well as Krampert's. One I'd suggest you look at is available thru Shoebox Shave, called Fougere by Alpa. This stuff is outta this world. Huge 250 ML bottle for $15

He He Brian , I will sometimes check the forum between jobs or I'd go crazy just looking at numbers all the time. As the great Clint Eastwood once said " A man has got to know his limitations " ;>)

In TSN, is it a bad idea to talk about trades in a post outside of the BST?

I've been banned from B&B and had to beg for forgiveness for such trespassing lol.
