I've been shaving with a recently acquired Slim, and I have to say that it feels more balanced than the FB, and gives a great shave. Both are really cool razors, but I think at this time I would choose the Slim.

I really like both razors, but the slim seems to get in harder to reach areas.

Personally I have found the FB works better for me... I just get a smoother shave and no irritation whereas the slim sometimes leaves me with minor irritation. However, I know many people that will agree with you in the preference for the slim.

Although I like both, the Slim is my go to razor.

I like the heft of the Fatboy, but prefer the agility of the Slim. So I use both with equal pleasure. Fatboy is slightly rarer, though.

I agree with the OP. Have both, and prefer the Slim to the Fatboy.

Same here. I prefer the Slim too. However, I like the long-handled Super-Adjustable the best.
Biggrin

They're all good, mild, smooth shavers. The variety is nice.

I much prefer the performance of the slim I own over my fatboy. While the FB has a better handle the slim is much more effective.

Still on the lookout for a clean short handle super adjustable just to test the water

I've only recently acquired the Slim and was thinking of adding a Fat, but maybe I'm not missing anything from the above comments.

I shaved with both for over 50 years, and agree with Shaun--I prefer the heaviness of the Fat Boy, and the agility of the Slim. I get the same shave with either one, and I think it's just whichever one feels the best in your hand as you are shaving.

Wow. Until recently my Fat Boy gave me the best shaves by far. But lately I've been getting weepers with it that I never had before. I take whatever blade I'm using out and put it in any of my others and get perfect shaves. Can a razor get "out of whack?"
But when it's working my vote is for the notorious F.A.T.

I really like them both...
I do, however, find that my slim is about 1 click more agressive than my fatboy. ie, if my fatboy is set on 5, it would be like a 4 on my slim.

@Mouser, yes the razor can get out of wack. Sometimes you can actually see a difference in the gap. It could have been dropped or bumped against something. The same thing happened to my Fatboy, which btw, I love just a tad more than my Slim. You may want to look into getting it revamped. It's not expensive and it does wonders!

Thanks, yes Cirques I'll have it looked at. But my vote is emfatically for the Fat Boy.

I, too, prefer the Fatboy. Not just a little, but a LOT. I had a Slim and sold it. You'll have to pry the Fatboy out of my cold, dead hand.

Fatboy is smoother, more comfortable, and actually EASIER to use in my difficult spots (under the jaw line). The slightly taller dome just makes it fit into those spots much better. I don't have any problem using it under the nose, and didn't find the Slim any better in that area.

So, for me, Fatboy all the way.

Fatboy for me, I find it more efficient and smoother. However, I don't think this is a straight comparison. Let me explain.

I've tried a few different Fats and Slims and I think that there is a lot of variation between different razors of the same model. My fatboy works best for me, but I have tried others that didn't cut the mustard. No one slim or FB seems to shave the same, I don't know if that can be explained by how much use the razor has had over time, or perhaps it's a result of different tolerances in Gillette's manufacturing process. Go figure, as they say...Huh

I have an Aristocrat Adjustable (gold-plated Slim), but I have never tried it. I also have a 1960 Fatboy and a black-handled Super Adjustable, and between these I much prefer the Fatboy. It gives me a smoother shave and better ergonomics. Since I determined that I wasn't going to use it anymore, I PIFed the Super.

Right now, I'm really enjoying the Mergress, but I'll need to try the Slim one of these days.
