I have a friend of mine offering me NOS of the Gillette Toggle and the Super Adjustable. Which one would you take?

The seller is advising me to take the SA he says gives him the best shaves ever. But I'm having a difficulty turning a blind eye to that beautiful toggle.

Point me in the right direction please

In terms of value that Toggle is worth waaaaaaaay more than the SA and the shave is very similar. At least it was to me. The cool factor of the toggle weighs heavy too. You can always pick up an SA but the toggles are few and far between.

A NOS Gillette Toggle will fetch $1000+ on eBay and sometimes $2000. Make him aware of the value before proceeding.

You don't want to gain a razor and loose a friend.

Right. I forgot to mention 'price aside' as the toggle is of course much more expensive and appropriately priced.

My friend did emphasize that it's not a very good shaver in comparison to the super adjustable. He says it'll be more of a 'collection' thing as there are far better shavers out there.

Making a purchase. What I meant to say is that I was aware they cost very differently and I don't want to buy both, just whichever will be a good shaver and a pleasure to use/own.

I would take the S.A. I love mine.
The Toggle is very valuable as a piece of history, but its not worth that kind of money as a shaving device.

Toggle if it's just for looking, and the SA if it's for using.

I agree with everything stated above.

The Super Adjustable is regarded by many as the best Gillette Adjustable. Personally, I prefer the Fatboy. The Toggle looks to me like it would be very awkward to hold and maneuver. (Note that I prefer short handles, but I'm not sure that the lever at the end of the handle would enhance anyone's grip. Just a thought, as YMMV.)

Like the other posters, my vote is for the SA, if you actually want to shave with the thing. If money is no object and the Toggle is fairly priced, buy both, shave with the SA, and put the Toggle away as an investment.

SA if you want to shave with it; Toggle if you want to collect and display it.

Super adjustable. I still like my Slim more, but the Super Adjustable is such a smooth shaver and you can't get much better than that.
