No, I'm not talking real estate.

Frequently, items come up for sale or swap here in the Nook; problem: the location of the person selling/seeking is often not specified. I live in Australia. This is an international community.

It would be very helpful, therefore, if members would specify where they are located. That way, I, for one, would easily be able to assess whether the potential postal charges would immediately provide an incentive/pique my interest, or let me know that I should simply admire the object from a polite distance.

Am I guessing, or are most of those who do not specify their country, citizens of the USA? I hate to say that, but I have received some enquiries in the past from people who simply assumed that I, too, was an US citizen. Don't get me wrong, please. I like Americans a great deal. This isn't about nationality, but about LOCATION.

Remember, please: INTERNATIONAL. I don't assume Australia is at the centre of the known, civilised world Smile

Agreed.

Although not required, it would be helpful if members indicated their location ... even general location ... state/province, country.

This is beneficial to all for many reasons ... and privacy will still be respected!

Even living here in the states I see a lot of stuff abroad where I think the same thing. I click on the user profile only to find nothing about location. I suppose when you say CONUS you can assume the seller is in the US but otherwise it's a tossup. I'll definitely be posting my location in the future!

I think this is a good idea also, but do understand if some wish to remain discreet.

Your point is well taken, Shaun. That is why I wish everyone would post their location along with their username and avatar. It could be as detailed as mine (San Diego, California, U.S.A.) or as simple as country of residence (Australia, Canada, Norway, Portugal, U.S.A., etc.) By using just country names it would help buyers and sellers but would also protect a person's privacy.

Agreed Shaun. While many people don't want their specific location given up, surely listing your country isn't giving up too much info. On the other side of that though, I am certain there are some people who do not wish to be identified with certain countries on an International forum as well.

Agreed also. I always share my location (city and country) in my profile, and I don't even buy or sell often.

Yeah, but you guys have great "sit by the fire" wines. As well as not being that far from ground zero for boar brushes. Biggrin

If you guys do decide to come someday, let me know and I'll recommend some great spots to eat and drink. If you come to Porto, trying a Francesinha is obligatory! Biggrin

No kidding Phil, UK, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Germany ...... all places with major producers. Time for a business trip or two I would think. (BTW, having been to several European countries, I was underwhelmed by London and England, no offense to anyone from there. The history was neat, but that was about it for me)

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but I mentioned a Francesinha a few posts ago, and I just thought I'd share what we in Porto call a Francesinha (direct translation means "little french"):

This one was eaten by yours truly just a few nights ago. Biggrin
