Been shaving about 15 years now, started with the Gillette multi blade cartridge of the time…. Long 15 year story short I HATE SHAVING!!! OR at least I use to! I tried a Merkur Futur (I’m pretty sure that is what it was) about 5 years ago I am assuming on the largest gap possible and I ended up bleeding and bleeding and bleeding some more…. My brother spent the last few years in Africa and a DE razor is all he could get his hands on so he became a big DE razor FAN. He has been trying to get me to try it out again ever since!

SO for Christmas I received a Micro Touch brand gift pack (the one available at Wal-Mart). Tried it once and about the same result as 5 years ago bleed bleed bleed. So I threw it under the sink were it set until early February. Ran out of Gillette cartridges in early February and was a little low on $$ at the time so I wasn’t going to fork out the $50 plus bucks on some Gillette multi blade cartridges. So I dug out the Micro Tech and decided to give it another go.. After a few shaves and a little bit of practice I decided to pick up some different blades and keep it up.

Since then I have acquired a couple of different razors and a couple of different packs of blades to try. I listed them below. I am currently running the Gillette 1966 Tech 1 with Feather or Derby professional blades & Cremo Cream shave cream and Gillette sensitive skin aftershave. AND I am still under the $50

I am looking forward to trying out a nice Gillette adjustable when $$ permits and I am drooling over the ATT Combo sets. I am not very big on trying out a lot of soaps and creams just yet… I found a really nice Coors brand mortar bowl that would be great for bowl and brush. My main focus is on the Razor and Technique at the moment. And have yet to find a good brush to give it a try.

So as i started to say I use to HATE SHAVING... I am starting to see it as a much more enjoyable experience one that i hope to share with others in the future Wink

rocketmandane, that is some stable of fine hardware! You have good taste!

I used to hate shaving too, for a long time. Now I wake up early anticipating a good shave. Crazy!!!

Welcome. I also jave a microtouch. I have it in a box where hopefully it will be a valuable vintage razor. No really I am kidding about valuable. I run a Merkur with Astras and have a bad case of RAD. Good luck and welcome to your newest addiction.
