Price: Ouch!

Presentation: Nice! Purchased from MdC direct. Arrived with a personalized note and a Fougere soap bar sample.

The jar is heavy thick glass and beautiful. The stickers are well placed/centered. Inside the jar they put protective styrofoam, which is good when shipped long distances. Lifting it off you see the large circumference of the cream and it looks glorious.

Latherability: Less than 4 swirls with my badger and it exploded with lather, so I stopped. It was enough to last me three passes. I found the soap to be neither thirsty or too soft. Just right.

Performance: Brilliant. Magical. All the stuff you guys said before. Easily protected my skin from the blade and had plenty of slip. Didn't dry quick. My face is very soft and supple after, I would say it's not necessarily moisturizers, but felt healthy.

Overall: Definitely a great soap. No doubt about it. The price would make me buy it once, and since it lasts for a while I would enjoy it. But doubt would buy it a second time. There are so many soaps out there to be faithfully married to this one IMO.

Scent: Notice I left this until after, because it's quite subjective really. When I opened the jar first thing I thought of was: ice cream! The smell of ice cream when still in the fridge. Later I got herbal notes of Lavender and greens. I prefer clean, non-herbal scents so I would imagine this would be a nice change once in a while but not a favorite.

I found it to be the same as you. Eventually the scent got under my skin and I just didn't want to use it any more. In terms of performance though it's stellar. May get the Fougere or Unscented in the future but have way to many soaps right now to even consider it!

Nice writeup!

maybe not - but i don't take lightly on magical feelings Euro

i do lots of things being slightly impractical perhaps - and i love it!

concerning the (red) ferrari: if i had one (for pure joy) i'm sure i would have 5 other vehicles as well. 1 practical and 5 magical Biggrin

(...but i don't even have a drivers licence - and i would favor an aston martin Tongue )

I own 4 200 ml glass jars of MDC - 2 unscented, 1 fougere and 1 original.

I love them.

The scents are subjective - but I like them all.

I'd rate the MDC soap 10/10

I think MdC is a great lathering soap, but it just doesn't have the protection especially around the neck area for me that other soaps have, regardless of price. Would I buy it again? That's doubtful based on all the other choices out there.

Not a fan of the scent at all. Otherwise, great soap.

For me, scent is too important, though, so I won't be purchasing this soap.

I've tried a handful of soaps and creams and there are some that I really like, but none came close to MdC for me. It may not be the best out there (don't know, haven't tried everything). But I liked it so much I bought a scented and a fougere. At it's price point, I can't justify spending more money on soaps, so I'm just sticking with it as my signature soap. The only other soap I kept was MWF, which isn't getting any play in my den right now. For me the two scents are different enough to offer some semblance of variety.

Now if I could only limit myself to one brush, my bank account would be so much healthier!

I think it's time I buy some Fougere, anyone have a nearly new or new one they'd like to sell me? Or is the next easiest place just ordering straight from their site?
