New guy from the island of Oahu. Started using a DE about 6 months ago and already have enough gear for the rest of my life. It's to make up for wasting the last 15 years on cartridges and electric shavers (half of my life, age 30 now).
Razors: PIF'd all but my Futur in pursuit of converting my friends. I think I found "The One" in my Futur but I still haven't tried a slant.
Brushes: 3 in my normal rotation; SOC, Jack Black Synthetic (black handle), and a whipped dog silvertip. The rest went along with the razors. There's still a lot more I want to buy/try but at least I know what I like now.
Blades: I have a huge stash of at least 50+ brands but I have resisted the urge and only use Astra SPs until I perfect my technique. I have snuck in a few feathers which first caused a lot of bleeding but now great shaves. I feel like my technique is consistent and efficient so I will start the long blade journey next week.
Soaps/creams: At first I bought all of the usual suspects out there like mwf, Tabac, Cella, conk, Proraso, vdh, rr, pdp, etc. Recently I've been reading reviews on every artisan soap a began my binge with getting a sample of every scent from Mystic Water. I will use these to sample all of the blades bc I want to have the only variable be the blade to get a true test.
Aftershaves: I have a few but I don't like using things with a lasting scent or residue on my skin since I shave at night. That lead to creating what I like to call a "Frankenhazel". I didn't care for witch hazel's scent so I added aftershave cologne to it. Then I figured I should add ingredients to hydrate and repair my skin with things like glycerine, hyaluronic acid, jojoba oil, vitamins a c e, and green tea extract.
Any other suggestions on what to add to the Frankenhazel would be appreciated as well as advice on any other topics. Maybe a number for some type of treatment center or psychiatric help.
