Anyone try the Franks Shaving chubby style synthetic? I was interested in trying one and wanted to see if there were any reviews. Thanks.

I tried one. Did not like it. It was prickly, but it produced good lather. I think it was prickly because I face lathered in a circular motion and it does not like that.

I have also tried one and I wouldn't describe it as "prickly", but the loft is a bit short which causes the bristles to have too much 'spring' to them.
I much prefer the Plisson synthetic.

I use the FS synthetic... A Simpsons Chubby2 Syn' it certainly isn't. If it was priced right it would be OK. I didn't pay what they go for today and the brush isn't terrible, but it IS NOT worth what I heard they want for them.

There was a post recently that told of the Simpsons Classic (2 ?) in synthetic to be released soon.

Mike I tried one a while back and it wasn't for me. You're definitely not going to get a Plisson or Muhle feel out of it. (Not if it's like the one I had) The QC was a little off on mine as well.

I have one on the way from China... Not the chubby style handle but the butterscotch handle that is shaped like a 167 with the 28mm Knot. Although I feel I got it at a good price (<$50), after reading comments here part of me is regretting it. I really don't have high expectations, I just wanted to see what a big knot synthetic was about... I know I'm rolling the diceRolleyes. I chose that over the H.I.S. in hopes QC is a little better. I guess we'll find out in a few weeks...

Worst case scenario my son gets a new play brush Tongue

I hope you get a good one. Unfortunately mine had a couple of glue spots well up into the knot. If you get a good one it will certainly have been worth the money.

Thanks! I saw your video on that brush, so I'll be on the lookout for the glue spots...thanks for posting that. I'll report back when it finally arrives Smile
