Just both new versions in the pots.
Not soaps. Creams.

Anyone tried either of the new ones ?

By the way I still own a 80% full version of the old AK 1869, the one in the dark brown plastic pot that smells like italian almonds.

Great cream, in my top 10 or top 5 of best creams in my collection.

Hope the two new ones perform to the same high level.

Let me know how it compares to old 1869 when you get it, I might get a tub for a gift.

They are called 1869 and Cedro. The formula has changed substantially from the old 1869 tubs, and the price has doubled. They are available on several websites. (Cedro is Cedarwood.) I kept the Cedro After Shave Emulsion, but only tried the Cedro shaving cream before I decided the new recipe was too far removed from the old 1869 recipe, and consequently wasn't my cup of tea.

Thanks, Gary. Was the issue performance or scent?

Thanks for your input, Gary. I still have and use a tub of the old 1869 cream/soap, and like it very much. One of my favourite shaving items. I'll use it happilly untill it's gone, 'cos now I see that the new stuff is something quite different.

The problem I see is that the former version of the cream was so doggone good, when something like that gets reformulated, it's different by design. It wasn't what I had expected, and I found I wasn't interested in it any more.

Let's just say I will be sadly disappointed if I have spend €50 on two subpar creams, when I expected them to perform on par with my old pot of AK 1869 croap with the almond scent.

I have half a tub of the old AK 1869,it was the soap for this mornings shave.I really enjoy the rich, thick lubricating lather and the warm scent of the marzipan.I don't think I would pay the old price for the new formula, let alone more than double.

Yes, received them yesterday - but will take a while for me to test them. I have 30 new soaps and creams coming in this month alone, and I'm moving out from current girls friend to a new girl friend, so have some other thinks to take care of at the moment.

The cream in both tubs looks more thin than the cream in the old tub, which was more like a croap.

For that reason I don't expect the same performance from the new AK pots unfortunately Undecided

But you never know.......Tongue
