What is your preferred 'no nonsense' or 'no fuss, no muss' razor/blade that you reach for, in times where a smooth shave is required and there's no room for error, i.e. nicks and weepers, etc.
In other words, what's the razor/blade of choice to be used prior to a special event ... special date, anniversary dinner, wedding, funeral, job interview, presentation, etc.

For me ... Cobra Classic

Chime in, everyone ... Biggrin

I'd have to say my Merkur Progress. That razor just feels pretty foolproof to me. If I want to be extra cautious I can just dial it back a little bit.

This would have been my choice as well, but the more time I spend using a Fatboy, the more I gravitate toward it.

I have to go with the Cobra Classic and Kai Mild. It's the least intimidating for me.

When I "need" the best shave, over a BBS ... what I call Gummy Face Shave, my choice is simple clear: Gillette Fusion ProGlide Power Multi-5, with its cartridge.
No passion, just pure performace. Hi-tech at its best!! Cool

I want to say my Puma #89 5/8 Straight razor, but in the spirit in which the question was asked; I'd go with my trusty ol' Merkur 34c HD with a Pol-Silver blade. Perfect everytime, with zero risk of marking my self up, even if I'm not alone in the bathroom.

47 Aristocrat (with any blade) - If I goof up up with this razor then I shouldn't be allowed to buy razor blades, or a gallon of milk for that matter. This is the smoothest razor I have ever tried, you just can't screw it up. But my favorites are Cobra, 37 Slant, and Mergress in that order

To guarantee zero nicks and yet deliver a smooth result I'd go with my Gillette Slim and probably put a GSB blade in it.

Any razor I own coupled with a Gillette Silver Blue will do the job for any circumstance. I must say however, that my thin handle Joris is second to none.

The same answer as above, the Cobra Classic + Feather Professional--a smooth shave every time.

Addendum: I want to add my new Heljestrand MK No 31 to my list. Wow, what a shave.

Until I get my hands on a Cobra, I'll have to say my 34C with a Super Iridium blade. It has never let me down.
