I recently had a tub of Iconolani Mango soap and sold it because I wasn't in love with the scent. A couple weeks after selling it I regretted it. That smell stuck with me and was very distinct. I considered trying to pick up another but just never got around to it.

I recently picked up some Catie's Bubbles Santal and my wife didn't like it so I basically switched it out (sold the santal) and picked up the La Piment de View (LPV). It arrived today and I did a test lather.

THERE WAS THAT EXACT SMELL! The same as Iconolani. I doubt in a blind sniff test I would be able to tell the difference. I love the performance of Catie's Bubbles so I was ecstatic to not only have the scent back that I found I really liked and from an artisan that I really liked.

I don't know if others have had this comparison or not but I was really surprised! Very gladly surprised! Anyone else notice this?

I believe that someone else has mentioned this before.

* SharpSpine is off to research some scent profiles.

YMMV and all that. I don't think they smell anything alike. But my nose is old and maybe it don't work as good as yours does.

From what most people say about I coloniali it seems to be a pipe smoke type scent, or at least smokey in some way. I definitely don't get that from Le Piment de la Vie. I can't seem to find a scent profile for the I coloniali shave soap but if anyone can share it here then I'll let you know how close they are.

I may not have the most distinguished nose but I gotta say this is very close. It's a good thing though. Iconolani is a favorite of many of our members. I'm not saying that CB tried to match this scent but maybe great minds think alike and came up with a very similar scent merely by coincidence. Sorry if others have mentioned this before, I didn't check Smile

I'm super happy because I love supporting a smaller artisan and this is the best of both worlds!

I can see where someone could get a similar scent out of those two. I can definitely tell detect a difference but I certainly understand where the OP is coming from.

I own both I Coloniali shaving products.

The cream in the silver tube smells like earthy smokey cedar wood
The soap smells of fresh mango fruit.

Both perform splendid.

The cream does, not the soap.

Are you talking about the cream in the silver tube ?

Edit
I had forgotten about it.
It really smells like a mix of mango, smoke and menthol. The soap that is.
