On Johnny's suggestion, I adopted a Feather NEO MR3 razor and used it with the FII Neo cartridges for today's shave. My first impression is that the shave of the Feather NEO razor reminds me of an injector razor with NOS Schick blades. The FII blades are very sharp but the shave itself is mild. You would have to try to nick yourself and even then, I am not sure you would succeed.

After three passes, my face was smooth as a baby with zero irritation. This would make an excellent travel razor and is also good for those days you are in a rush.

Phil, for how long does your face feel clean shaven, compared to a traditional DE or SE shave. While I haven't tried this razor (yet), I do find that what might initially seem like a close shave with a cartridge razor doesn't last as long as with a trusty DE or Schick (E model) with Schick blades.

I can answer that one Freddy. Just as long as any DE or SE that I've used.

Thank you, Mr. Enabler! Angry 24

It might be worth considering for travel but I have plenty of cartridge razors now that I don't use as much as my traditional ones so I think I'll wait a bit. (Goes off grumbling about Johnny enabling and planting this seed in my brain... )

Enabler is right!

I just ordered the MR3 razor and FII blades. (I can't remember the last time I got excited over a cartridge razor!)

My problem then was that I had an order of $40.00, but you get free shipping for orders over $80.00. Well, who isn't going to spend more to get something for FREE? Tongue

So, I added some items that I have had my eye on for awhile (the $35.00 Muehle black fiber brush and some DE blades), and I can't wait for the package to arrive! Biggrin

- Murray

PS. I wonder how many orders Phil has gotten for these razors.

Probably not many as I have not seen my commission check. Biggrin

That's a joke fellows, before someone ask.

Well...my face is still soft at 3:35 PM so, it is doing well. Today is my first use so I cannot comment beyond that.

Enough that I had to scramble to put in a reorder. Biggrin

Had my first shave today with the MR3 and FII cartridge. It's very comfortable to hold and maneuver, and the cartridge is sharp and smooth. I'll have to try the 3-blade Feather next -- but I'm already entertaining the idea that this system could replace both my Trac II and Mach3.

Tonight will be my first run with this combination, as well.

I had my first shave with the MR3/FII combination tonight, which was my first experience with a cartridge razor in a very long time. The Feather MR3 is a substantial handle made of metal and hard rubber; it feels solid. It comes with a couple of MR3 triple-blade cartridges, but I used the Neo FII twin blade.

This razor didn't have the solid feel of engagement one gets with a DE, Injector, or SE. Also, I wasn't able to precisely trim the line between the beard and shaved area on the neck, so I grabbed a trusty Bic Metal to do that. Overall, however, it was very smooth in action and the shave is as good as what I normally get with a DE. I hadn't shaved for two days, but the razor cut through the whiskers with no effort and it didn't clog at all. I'm impressed, but I still get more satisfaction from wielding a DE, which will remain my mainstay.

I plan to use the Feather at least through this week, or until I dull the cartridge, and it will see intermittent use thereafter. I might even break out my old Schick Tracer and Gillette Atra to see how they compare.

Murray, did you lock the cartridge? I haven't tried that feature yet.
