If you're anything like me your favorite razor/blade combo changes from time to time.

I'm currently exploring the joys of a 40's SS loaded with an Astra SP. This is a great combo for me. So smooth it's hard to believe there's a blade in the razor.

Especially nice as the 40's SS is akin to driving a sports car.

I really love my 64 SS with the Astra SP. Great little razor, and definitely my "go to" for the time being.

That's a tough one. For me, it is one of the following:

Cobra Classic with a Feather Professional

Gibbs Click Pen with a Super Iridium

Wilkinson Sticky with a Schick Plus Platinum

For the time being, I've got two favorites, the Feather AS razor with a Personna 74 and the Wilkinson Sticky razor with a Wilkinson Light Brigade.

I suppose I'm pretty much down to a couple of combinations.

First is a 2nd generation iKon OC with a Feather. The second is my Gillette 'Old Type' (Bull Mastiff handle) with a Super Iridium.

Yeah baby! [Image: WOOT_by_grayseer_thanquol.gif]

I really like a lot the Merkur futur with perma-sharp blade or Astra sp blade. Merkur futur is a DE that it's ready to rock with almost every blade on earth. P0

NOS Gillette Bleue Extra with... anything, really. I like it in all my usual razors (34C, DE87 an R41 OC).

As a rule of thumb, the Merkur is better with not so sharp blades, the DE87 likes sharper blades (it's much milder), and the R41 OC (2010) handles better with blades that pull less.

For me, my favorite blades have been my favorites in every razor I have tried them in. In fact, most blades work all right for me, though I prefer the sharper ones.

Feather blades don't work for me. They cut through my coarse beard oh-so-smoothly, but they take a layer of skin with them.
The only other blades I remember really having a problem with were the Sputniks.

While blades don't make much difference to me, razors do. At least this is the case with DE razors and blades.

When I comes to SE razors, I choose the mildest razor (G-bar or Featherweight) and the sharpest blades (Treet or GEM Blue Star carbon steel). I find GEM stainless blades, coated or not, noticeably duller than their carbon steel counterparts, requiring more pressure for the same cut and causing more irritation in the process.

I get better results from DE razors and blades, so I rarely use SE now.

i'm still experimenting with razors and blades but so far my best combo is the 40's superspeed with a Shark SC blade.
i'm also impressed with the personna medical prep blades in the superspeed.
