Just a few snaps of a good condition and quite rare 1957 British Red Tip Superspeed, part of a haul yesterday. I now have two. Just lucky, I guess.

This is not a Rocket: there is no gap in the lower handle when the silo doors open and close.

They provide a very excellent shave. Marked with a III. Note the pointed end plates, unlike the US models which are squared off. Weighs in at a nice hefty 66g.

Although the SS is reputedly rarer than the British Red Tip Rocket, I have never seen one of the latter. Plenty of US red tip rockets, but never a Britisher which is apparently about 3g heavier. Maybe in Australia, that's simply what was brought here?

This is one of my favourites. I have a few red tip rockets too. These are a touch more aggressive and are like hens teeth.

Hi Dipesh, are your rockets British or American?

I thought the only Redtip Rocket's made were English.

I have 1x English Redtip Superspeed, 1x US Redtip Superspeed & 2x English Redtip Rocket's.

Quite right, yes. The red tips made in the US were Superspeeds only.

I would love to get an English red tip rocket. Apparently they are not as rare as the English red tip Superspeed, but I have never handled one. I have two English red tip superspeeds.

Hi Shaun, all my red tips are made in England. I have had the USA made ones but when compared, the English ones feel and shave much better for me.

I would say out if the English red tips, the rockets are more scarce than the superspeed but neither of them are common razors.

After looking a while I've picked up an English Red tip Superspeed. I've yet to shave with it to make comparison with my US Red tips.
Now I need to hunt down a Red tip Rocket.... Rolleyes

Fantastic shaver there! Congratulations on your find. Always fun to have a few razors in your collection manufactured in other countries.

I love to use my Gillette Red Tip for a close morning shave.

Beauty! Have you had a chance to compare the shave from this razor to the US Red Tips?

Can anyone, perhaps one of our vendors that deal in vintage razors, provide us with the specs on both the British and American Red Tips? Are they really more aggressive? Because I've used both and to my almost nerve dead face there is no difference.
