Cartgurus, what do you make of this?

These are packaged under the label Astra and are made in Poland, same as the other ''contour'' carts.
My curiosity got the better of me today, so i bought these and a contour handle (very cheap here). Thing is, these cartridges do not fit the contour handle...
Any ideas? Maybe older style Atra handle?
While those are the cheapest carts here, they are the only ones without the schmutz (gel) stripe which i am trying to avoid...

Those cartridges are made for the GII (Trac II) system. I have seen this on Amazon but i can buy original GII cartridges where i live for the same price, so i never bought them.

Here they are pretty cheap ($7 for 10).
They do have the advantage, at least for me, of not having the lub strip.
The handle is not sold here though.. .

You can buy a Gillette PII on eBay, wich seems to be the same handle of the GII, and they are cheap.

The handles are not exactly identical, but I believe there is more than one handle design. There is an Astra handle...

I will have to order one...

Yes you do, because the performance really does improve when you get a handle with good weight and balance versus one that minimizes costs and material weight.

That is so true. My vintage Trac II handle has a nice solid weight to it and it makes all the difference!

Just so you know what Galhatz and I are talking about, I had this up on the B/S/T a while back and there were no takers so I put it back in storage. When I saw his post about the above blades I knew this would work.

So, for the price of postage from the good old USA to the Czech Republic, I mailed this razor this morning.

I truly hope Galhatz enjoys it.

The razor arrived today.
It is really nice : Good balance nice feel in hand - pretty classy if I do say so myself, I would post some photos when I get the chance.

Thank you Johnny!

As for the Astra/Gillette carts, being spoiled by the super sharp Feather Neo cartridges, these are ok but they are not brilliant as the Feather ones. I ordered a Feather branded Trac cartridges off ebay last week, we'll see.

The razor also had a pack of adjustable Schick cartridges, I will give them a try next time.

I had a great shave today with the Astra (gillette) cart and the handle I got from Johnny. The Astra cart is on the mild side - which is good: on some days I need to be on auto-pilot.

The handle is now polished and it is a joy to hold and behold by the mirror.
Call me happy.

I am waiting for the Feather trac cartridges to arrive still, but I feel like stocking up on these as well. No gel/schmutz strip and it delivered a fantastic shave today.
These carts are the bottom price here in Prague. They don't sell the handles (but they do sell Wilkinson DE handles).
They stock the shelves with them strictly to lure in the folks that still use this system, just like CVS and Walgreen still stock GEM SE blades.

The Feather F11 work great in a Trac2 or Atra.
