I recently picked up a couple cheap ever ready brushes on the bay in the hopes that one of the handles looked as good in person as it does in the pictures. Both were clear acrylic and black, one was pristine, and one ... not so much.
Anyway, one of the two brushes included a "brass" auto strop razor. Aside from some patina on it, it is in near perfect shape. To me it was a total bonus and I really had no plans to do anything with it other than PIF it away, but everything on it seems to work and I am debating keeping it and trying it out.
I am looking for recommendations for a good cleaning and gold plating place. Since the razor was meant to be in brass, the color should remain in that golden hue, but I do want a modern finish on it. I've found blades and new strops for it. so this could be a fun little project if it can just be made pretty. A black rhodium is a second option.

I have used Razor Emporium and am happy with the job they did. They gold plated my post WWII tech. They put a substantial coating on it, but not enough to make the handle and head detail disappear. Their view is your going to use the razor and a thin coat would wear off quickly.
I know some people don't like them, but my experience was positive. I used another local recommended plater for an earlier project and never saw my stuff again. Anyway, good luck, and let us know how it turned out.

Dave Glynn in the UK. He plated 3 Cobras (gold, rose gold and black chrome) for me recently and an Aristocrat (gold) before that.

AFAIK, Dave Glyn is not taking new orders now days due to a new job.
Replating razors is not rocket science, I'm sure "Razor Emporium" can do it, but considering this:

I think there are better options.

Chris is replating a red tip for me now. I'm impressed with his work I've seen.

There are probably a couple things you want that he doesn't own; but that's only because Ben sold those items to me.
