I was on the bay last week looking for a couple handles for reknotting projects. I stumbled upon a couple nice Ever Ready models, and the first one arrived a couple days ago. It's a 500N so you know a very early first generation nylon. No plans to use it at all.

The bulb isn't even completely rounded, it's got an off center high point and the top is fairly flat.

I opened up a jar of Ginger's Garden French Lavender Cream Shaving Soap and swirled the damp brush in it for 20-25 seconds just to see if it could do anything .....

While not overly impressive taken out of context, in the context of a 1940s nylon brush I was quite pleased with what it can do. Yes, it's still getting a reknot, but this certainly isn't awful.

That is another excellent example of an approximately 70 year old Gen 1 brush that is still in great shape. It bodes well for people using today's synthetics that if they are properly cared for, they will be in as good of shape in 50+ years.

Thanks for showing it!
