I'm growing increasingly interested in the artisan soaps and Mikes Natural was one I heard the most often for being really good, so I made an order to give it a try but now I'm curious to what else is out there.

So let's go around the room, what are you top 2 favorite artisan soaps? I'm mostly interested in performance being the criteria as opposed to cost, packaging, etc. I'd make a poll but I'm sure I'd miss out on so many of them. Feel free to elaborate on what you like about your top 2.

I could stop at Mike's, but I'll throw Stirling in there too.

Tough, I've tried (or have) most of what's been mentioned here, all excellent stuff.

Strop Shoppe and I'll throw in Barrister & Mann since it hasn't been mentioned.

I think I want to try a few things from mikes and then maybe check out something from WSO, jabonman and tiki.

Who makes a really nice bay rum? That's a scent I've wanted to try. I was actually thinking razorock for captains choice bay rum so I could check off the bay rum AND razorock boxes in the "to try" list.

I really like WSO, Mike's, and just recently Mystic Water. All of those are top performers. Just behind them, and still excellent is Beer Soap Brewing Co. In fact the Beer Soap Bay Rum is my favorite Bay Rum.

If I had to just pick 2, Mike's and WSO!

Catie's Bubbles & Soap Commander. Both also have a Bay Rum.

Side note, it will depend on what types of soaps you like and don't. Mike's for instance is a very buttery soap which is great for those with dry skin. However, for my oily skin it wasn't great. Same reason Stirling is not good for me, way too much castor oil. So depending on your skin type and which types of soaps already work well for you will better narrow down your choices from the artisans. Oh yeah, and it's not getting any easier because as I understand it there are more on the way.

I couldn't narrow it down to 2. My favorites lately are WSO, Tiki, Catie's Bubbles and Stirling. There are many great artisan soap makers available to us today.

Barrister & Mann makes an excellent soap. I really like Mike's, too, but it's a different sort of lather & experience for me.

B&M bay rum is my favorite so far.

+1. I think our artisans make some of the best soaps in my den and no way I can narrow it down to just two...

Mike's Natural and Dapper Dragon. These two are excellent in my experience.

I also tried Stirling and some of the ones I tried performed great, some not so great, but this was early in the maker's development and all the scents I tried were fantastic, just the performance on some samples I had was sub-par, but I would recommend trying Stirling because it is fairly inexpensive and the ones that did perform well were amazing soaps. I think Stirling has dialed them in better by now.

I also heard so many good things about B&M, Tiki, Strop Shoppe, but have no experience with them.

#1 Stirling
#2 Mikes Natural

Mystic Water would get 2nd, as I prefer the post shave feel and scents over Mike's. However, it's finickiness with lathering knocks it down a notch. Even though I've used it for quite a while, I still occasionally get a dud lather.

I'd hate to narrow it to two, but at the moment my two favorites are JabonMan and Caties Bubbles.

That could change tomorrow though...Smile
