since I generally shave at night and shower in the morning, I usually rub my face down with a hot rag for a few minutes, apply my pre-shave (using noxema at the moment) and then apply my shaving cream.

what do you guys do?

No set time to shave-morning or night depending on my schedule, but a hot shower right before either way.

I fill my scuttle with hot water and let my brush soak a bit. While my brush is soaking, I wash my face my Musgo Real Glyce Lime soap and then whip up my lather. I do not shower until after I shave.

Wet face, apply a pre-shave cream (Vitos at the moment) and then, apply shaving cream/soap.

+1 on this though I am using a pre-shave oil, rather than a cream, at the moment.

Just a nice warm shower and then on to the main event. No special oil/cream preps for me; since I went DE I get a nice shave every day. Heart

Wet face and hot towel for 1 minute. That will do the trick for me!

I wash my face while I'm in the shower and I don't dry my face when I get out of the shower. Then I make my lather and shave.

  • A quick (5 minutes max) hot shower, "washing" (hydrating) face with nothing more than hot water.
  • Dry myself down, towel doesn't touch my face (want to keep skin, beard hair, as hydrated as possible).
  • At the sink, splash face with more hot water.
  • Wash face "thoroughly" with Proraso - Sul Filo Del Rasoio - Glycerin Pre-Shave Soap.
  • "Lightly" rinse face with hot water.
  • Massage a few drops of Vegetable Glycerine into beard.
  • Begin lathering...
After each pass, "lightly" rinse with hot water, massage a few more drops of glycerine into beard, then re-lather...

I've found adding a quick (hot) shower and a pre-shave soap into my shaving routine has really helped prepare my beard hair for shaving.

Leave hot water on my face, shave then a shower and finish with cold water from the shower on my face to seal the pores. No special oils or creams other then shave cream. Works for me.

I face lather for my prep. I make sure to massage the soap/cream lather into my stubble very well which is why I prefer a softer brush. I probably lather a good bit longer than most but I've found this to work better for me than a PreShave oil or glycerine or other PreShave product. I've done this both before & after shower with great results.

While the scuttle with its reservoir full of water is heating in the microwave, I splash my face with warm water and apply Ach Brito preshave soap or my homemade preshave oil, and I soak the brush for just a bit at the same time.

Shower or "brush face washing" (i.e. scrub your face with a very wet brush). Maybe I will use proraso white cream or Emulsión Myrsol, but I don't always do that.

If I'm not just out of the shower and want to shave, 2 to 3 minutes with a hot steaming towel works wonders for me as a pre lather prep.

I get the water running in the sink nice and hot.
Then I place my scuttle(mug) in the sink with my brush of choice for the nice.
fill the sink to the brim of my scuttle(mug).
Get into the hot shower and let the steam fill the room.
use a face wash and then a face scrub.
end the shower and clear off the mirror with a squeegee.

0. On the evening, I apply a moisturizer on my skin should I feel it needs to. A product that works wonder for that matter is the Santa maria novella pre shave cream (nice scent, the skin is not left greasy for a long time). I have found a cream with similar components for a much lower price that I also use.

1 I wash my face with an appropriate cleanser (glycerin based soap usually).Twice a week I use a scrubber instead (Dermalogica daily clean scrub).

2.I damp a hand towel with Luke warm water and apply it on the face two minutes.

3. I enjoy my shaving brush as I lather my favorite shaving product for an another couple of minutes.
