- A quick (5 minutes max) hot shower, "washing" (hydrating) face with nothing more than hot water.
- Dry myself down, towel doesn't touch my face (want to keep skin, beard hair, as hydrated as possible).
- At the sink, splash face with more hot water.
- Wash face "thoroughly" with Proraso - Sul Filo Del Rasoio - Glycerin Pre-Shave Soap.
- "Lightly" rinse face with hot water.
- Massage a few drops of Vegetable Glycerine into beard.
- Begin lathering...
I've found adding a quick (hot) shower and a pre-shave soap into my shaving routine has really helped prepare my beard hair for shaving.

I face lather for my prep. I make sure to massage the soap/cream lather into my stubble very well which is why I prefer a softer brush. I probably lather a good bit longer than most but I've found this to work better for me than a PreShave oil or glycerine or other PreShave product. I've done this both before & after shower with great results.

I get the water running in the sink nice and hot.
Then I place my scuttle(mug) in the sink with my brush of choice for the nice.
fill the sink to the brim of my scuttle(mug).
Get into the hot shower and let the steam fill the room.
use a face wash and then a face scrub.
end the shower and clear off the mirror with a squeegee.

0. On the evening, I apply a moisturizer on my skin should I feel it needs to. A product that works wonder for that matter is the Santa maria novella pre shave cream (nice scent, the skin is not left greasy for a long time). I have found a cream with similar components for a much lower price that I also use.
1 I wash my face with an appropriate cleanser (glycerin based soap usually).Twice a week I use a scrubber instead (Dermalogica daily clean scrub).
2.I damp a hand towel with Luke warm water and apply it on the face two minutes.
3. I enjoy my shaving brush as I lather my favorite shaving product for an another couple of minutes.
