When I first saw photos of this razor I thought the "repair" was part of the actual scale. I had done a restoration on a razor which had a wedge very similar to this.
Being that some guy , did all this work, to get his razor back up and running is too cool. The effort it took to do this , with whatever tools he had at hand is just great.
I tip my hat to him. If he had access to my shop, my tools, I can't imagine the scales he'd build.
But on to the restore.
The blade had some pretty heavy pitting at the nose on both sides of the blade. This being the case my client and I decided a brushed , original finish would be best. No sense turning a near wedge into a hollow ground to remove some pits.
For the scales we went with traditional black horn with the original lead wedge.
Double stacks on the wedge end and singles on the hinge worked well.

Yes, thank you , he was quite excited at the outcome.
And surprisingly he has had offers on the piece and he hasn't received it . Should be any day now.

haha, really?! well when people see something they like.... cant keep those fingers from typing "ill make this well worth your while!" I had one experience like that recently. I didn't want to insult by throwing out numbers but I wanted the owner to know I was (incredibly) interested in the razor. some pieces are too precious to part with though, this one came out VERY well indeed Smile
