After a false start we finally opened our camp up for the season.

It rained all morning Saturday but then turned into a sunny beautiful breezy weekend. We spent most of our time relaxing on the deck.

I put my time to good use and penned some letters using my travel writing desk.

ML wrote letters indoors and used her time on the deck to cross stitch. She is doing a 24 hour relay for life cancer walk soon. People bring items to sell to raise even more funds for ACS. ML is making bookmarks.

All in all just a great weekend. I love using the writing desk.

Great looking weekend Phil, and the area looks beautiful. Is the camp in NH as well?

Doug,
It is in north east Vermont. The small lake is the uniquely named Ticklenaked Pond. I kid you not.

Umm, I hope you show us some restraint with some of the pictures from the swimming pond. 24

No worries Doug. It is apparently an Anglecized version of an Indian name. From the "Times Argus" paper in VT:

"The titillatingly named Ticklenaked Pond in Ryegate might also
be the result of an old Indian word being mispronounced to
make sense to a foreign ear. Huden believes its original name
might have been "taugamochek," a Delaware Indian word
meaning "little beaver" or "little beavers." Or possibly it comes
from the word "Took-nock-ett," which means "riverbank.
Whatever its source, the pond's original name was not intended
to conjure images of skinny-dipping."

I love that desk, Phil. It beats the heck out of what Levenger pushes for lap desks these days.

Bob,
My daughter and her young man made it for me last summer.

If interested I posted about it on The Fountain Pen Thread at the top of this forum.

It is on page 58 if you are interested.

Not to hijack my own thread but I just re-read LOTR and then watched the DVD extended versions over the last week.

I assume with your user name Elendil you are a fan. Unless based on the Tardis there is a similar name in the Dr Who series.
