This is my first brush that I've "made". All I did was epoxy the knot in, but it's still mine Biggrin

I got the handle from Larry @ WD with a recent order. The knot came from Virginia Sheng on the 'bay. The handle was $6 and the knot was $13.49 shipped. So for $19.49 I have a pretty awesome brush!

I've had a Whipped Dog synthetic that I just sold. I liked it, but not as much as my Muhle Black Fibre brush. I really wanted to try one of these "latest" gen synthetic knots, and the price was right. The final specs on this brush are 24mm/54mm

Compared to the WD, this knot is made up of much finer hairs and it is much more dense than the WD. Softness is about the same as is backbone. The Pur-Tech just feels more luxurious on my face though. I'm guessing it's because it's so much more dense.

It whipped up lather with no problems at all, though still a step below the Muhle synthetic brush I have, and it's only a 20mm/52mm knot.

So far, the knot has only lost 2 loose hairs. While it didn't stink like a natural brush, it was VERY dirty and had a strange smell. Almost like it was made in a dirt floor factory or someones garage??? Other than dirty, it seems very well made.

Overall, I'm happy with this brush, and I'm sure I'll keep it for a while.

Decided to go with the butterscotch handle since I don't have one yet.

In these next two shots, you can see how dense the bristles are.

You did well for $19.49. Thanks for the review on the Virginia Sheng knot.

Thanks for the tip for that knot (I just ordered two). The price on them is very good (FS wanted around $50 last time I checked).

How long was shipping from China?

I ordered it on May 16, and I received it yesterday, May 28. Not bad since it was literally on the "slow boat from China".

Update:
Mine arrived within two weeks.
I don't have the muhle v2 for true side-by-side comparison but from memory, they look and feel the same to me.
I am experimenting with loft height, lower works better for me. I always felt the muhle could use more backbone.
I am very pleased.

I just received my 22mm Virginia Sheng Pur Tech knot yesterday and mounted it to a Parker brush handle I had lying around. This is now my new favorite brush! Oh so soft! And, it is a lather monster! I only paid $10- including shipping. I could not be happier with the quality of this product- especially for the price.

Hey, dropped the same knot into a spare handle a couple of weeks ago. Set the loft at 48mm and could not be happier for face lathering. Yea, it is a lather monster that just eats all the soaps and creams I have tried with it. What loft did you set yours at?
