Hi all,

So i'm finally ready to get a simpsons chubby 2 in super badger. Although I really like the look of the two band version, is there really difference between the two band and three band in super badger regarding this brush? I know its YMMV type of question, but I guess it will help me choose. Any info would be greatly appreciated and thanks for your help. Have a wonderful day my friends!

The Chubby 2 two band is one of the best looking brushes I've seen. Availability is quite limited though. As much as I love the looks of that brush, it's the three band Super Badger that works best for me as I prefer the more fan shape knot and believe it is easier to use with better flow through.I do think the two band is softer. So yes there is a difference. Your choice could be limited by availability as I believe the last I read Simpson is out of the two band hair at least for now. You'd either have to find a pre owned brush or contact Simpson for availability on two band brushes.

This is truly YMMV. In my opinion the 2 band has softer tips, better flow through and better backbone than the Super 3 Band. Definitely get a version from 2012 onwards that has the much softer hair batch.
There is a chance Simpson may no longer be able to secure this type of hair. In this case those existing brushes will fast become as sought after as Rooney gel tips etc.

German has it spot on th had a Chubby 2 in 3 band super and passed it on adfew months later. I recently acquired a Chubby 2 in 2 band and it's fabulous. Right up there with my 2XL heritage.

Go for it, you won't be disappointed.

+1 However, I found it a tad too soft as I like a bit of scrub. Best of luck to you, Balaji! Smile

Have you ever considered a Manchurian, Balaji?
I haven't tried the 2-Band Chubby but the Manchurian has soft tips, ample backbone, and better flow through than the 3-Band Super.

I would be happy to but its a little out of my reach to buy one. But someday I surely will! The odds are pretty low trying to find a two-band, but I will be just as happy to get one with a three-band. Thank you all for chiming in!

Hi David,

Hope you're doing well. You really should try a Chubby 2 2-band. Lovely lovely brush. I've got a Duke 3 Manchurian (which I swapped for your old Chubby 2 Super) and a Rover in Manchurian. The new batch of 2 band is a true joy. I think it's softer than the Manchurian and as it's a chubby, super dense with lovely backbone. One day I'll have to try a Chubby 2 Manchurian.

I haven't spoken to Mark about one yet, Jody, my thinking along the lines, as Balaji has said, of the hair possibly being unavailable. I'm also a little apprehensive of the standard bulb knot with 2-Band hair, my preference being for fan or hybrid.

I too lean towards fan/hybrid where Manchurian seems to fit. My offer still stands if you ever want to try my Chubby 2 2-band.

My chubby 2 in Manc arrived yesterday. Haven't tried yet but first impression is that it is one firm brush. Beautiful, but it feels like a scrubbing brush

Well, I went ahead and ordered A Chubby 2 in Super Badger three-band. Should arrive this week. Can't wait to use it as this has been my dream brush for quite some time. I will also post a photo once it arrives.
