What is your holy grail of brushes?

[attachment=1997]
Have you found it or are you still looking?

What brush do you covert so greatly that you would battle against such perils as:
risking your limbs to the dreaded Black Knight...
suffering insults in mangled Franglais...
facing legendary knights that formerly said "Ni!", but now say, "ekki-ekki-ekki-pitang-zoom-boing!”
bravely running away from a fight with a Three-Headed Giant...
fleeing from a castle populated by beautiful women who only wish to perform certain favours...
challenging fearsome rabbits with but a hand grenade...
crossing the Bridge of Death to answer questions three...
all whilst running around miming horse-riding and clanging together coconuts?

After seeing your picture of that butterscotch Manchurian Duke 3 I would say one of those.

I am fortunate to be able to boast that I have found my Grail brush...

In fact I own two...

But I am somewhat reluctant to share them.

I hope this thread doesn't illicit responses such as:
“I don't want to talk to you no more,
you empty headed animal food trough wiper.
I fart in your general direction.
Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries.”

As a can't think of much worse taunt or insult
or to upset a community that I'm fond of being a part.

In all seriousness,
it is with some trepidation that I share these pics.

I understand people's passion regarding poaching
and the depletion of remaining elephant herds.

Plisson are well known for their use of Ivory,
perhaps less known is that their Ivory is all certified PRE-CITES.

It's not my intent for this thread to become a fierce debate
on the endangerment of flora and fauna.

Further, I'm not suggesting this issue is not important
or should be overlooked.

My intent is simply to share
and to ask you to join me
in celebrating these beautiful brushes.

Ivory has a unique textual appearance and weight.
The subtle beauty is difficult to capture, but I have tried...

Are there any grail-shaped beacons.. er.. I mean brushes?

I'm too new at this. For now I don't even know know what my holy grail bristle type is!

There's a part of me that wants to collect every Vie-Long brush with the 13061/16501 handle style. I guess that's as close as I get, so far.

Great idea for another thread... The Holy Grail knot...

Now I'm thinking about a Rooney Finest knot in an Ivory handle, does such a brush exist...?

Cleric: And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.

I wouldn't say that I have a holy grail brush. I know you have lots of brushes Ben and that you enjoy variety too, but I can't say that I have a single brush that I'd put on a pedestal. Nor do I actively search for it for fear of meeting the Black Knight upon some unnecessary bridge.

Rooney Finest in Size 2, doesn't matter what color or style in handle. I want one but can't afford it. Unless someone was willing to let me pay on installments. ;-)

Five is right out. Smile

Yeah, my wife just expresses her confusion over it. As long as spending stays under control, that is.

Those are gorgeous brushes.

Ben, I think you could probably make a wad of cash if you opened up your collection for rent. Biggrin

My Holy Grail of brushes?Havent found it yet.In soaps in Martin de Candre.

My fav brush? A prototype with a rare finest badger made by Semogue.

The Duke in Butterscotch looks fantastic.

Ben,as I said in another thread, would be great if you could start a post talking about all the special badger hair grades that you have tried, like Rooney finest,Manchurian badger,HMW etc..

I really want to get a RV brush made like the old two tone Made-Rite.

I'd love to make it Black and Gold after my alma mater, plus I think it would just look snazzy.

Similar to the brush below:
