Well I've always been a sucker for gadgets so when Gillette announced the Flexball I knew I would have one. I got in on the pre-order and mine arrived yesterday.

It is the Gillette Fusion Proglide Power Flexball SILVERTOUCH.

The head has stops on it so it will only pivot just so much. If you look at pictures posted on Gillette's website it appears to have a little round spring or wire just below the blade release button. It is actually a flat spring which helps to bring the blade back to dead center.

It is actually not a ball at all, just a pivoting mechanism. The orange thing that looks like a basket ball is just an orange release button for the blade. Same as used on their regular Fusion Proglide. Clever marketing if you ask me.

Does it work, well I did not stare in the mirror trying to see the the head flex, but I can tell you that I got a truly BBS shave in two passes this morning.

I have the manual version. Far as I can tell, the "yawing" function is all smoke and mirrors, the shave experience and result indistinguishable from that of the standard Fusion. And I don't need five blades anyway. Gillette got me to spend 9 bucks, but the buck stops there.

My previous post came off sounding like sour grapes, and was not cool. Apologies. Allow me to rephrase: the shave was close but irritating, as in previous models. So while the Flexball is not for me, I hope others will enjoy theirs.

Thanks for the review, Johnny. If I used a cart, I'd be getting one for sure.

Didn't detect any grapes, sour or otherwise Ron. I agree with your smoke and mirrors comment too. This is another marketing exercise for the corporation, a new hat on their Malibu Stacy if you will. Not my kind of thing at all.

Where to get Flexball manual refill cartridges? None of the usual places have any (Rite-Aid, CVS, Walgreens, Bed Bath & Beyond).

It's the razor that has the flexball NOT the cart blades.

Try this method...use your favorite SE or DE and then a quick touch up on the neck or ATG with the Flexball.....that way you can still use eveything!!!!

I used my Flexball for the first time tonight and had a really nice 2 pass shave. No neck irritation, which is my number one goal right now and reasonably close. I definitely look forward to using it again!
