Not from the tallow vs vegie. It's most likely the soap brands formula that is causing the waxy film.

If you can post the list of ingredients someone will probably be able to help you determine what might be causing this.

A few good tallow-based soaps can leave your skin feeling more moisturized which may be what you are feeling although I would never describe it as a 'waxy' feel, but more of a very smooth feeling to the skin.
From the ingredients on the P160, I don't see anything that could result in a 'waxy' feel. Maybe Joe can provide some insight.

it may just be that you've gotten a closer shave than you are accustomed to, when I first started wetshaving with a DE, I couldn't get over the gumby like feeling that my face felt like.

I still remember my very first close BBS/better than DFS shave. I had used MWF and my face felt like play doh. I kept telling people at home and at work to touch my face. That didn't go over to well with the people in HR, but live and learn.

I haven't noticed any difference in the residue left behind by either variety.

I've noticed that many good soaps live a sort of residual slickness on the face after a pass of the razor, but haven't had any problems with it not rinsing off.

As others have said, depending on the particular soap/water involved it's possible for a waxy feeling to remain on your skin, but it's coincidental that a tallow soap caused this. It's not related specifically to tallow.

Ok yhanks everybody im just weird as ive switched back and forth ive come to realize my issue is the skincare factor the soaps in questions are razorocks new p160 and xxx wich I guess are very moisturizing . I have oily skin so its almost overkill for me in the summertime but I look for these to be my top winter soaps
