Just curious about people's opinions about which Vetiver scented shave soaps/creams you like best. Not interested in the ridiculously priced $40 - $50 varieties. Thanks

I haven't tried Mike's Vetiver, but like his other soaps that I have tried so will be buying this for myself in the future. Of the soaps that I have used the Pannacrema is an excellent performer and the Vetiver scent is nice, if not a bit mild.

My favourite Vetiver scent range is D. R. Harris' Windsor. Which I saw from bullgoose for $30 if you need the pretty wooden bowl or $18 for the refill. I currently own most of the Windsor range minus the shaving stick.

Scott.

HTGAM makes a Synergy Vanitever - vanilla and Vetiver. It's a good value, since you get 8oz, and it's an excellent performer.

I'm familiar with the performance of the HTGAM soaps, so what can you tell me about the scent? I'm really interested in this one, so other people feel free to comment as well. thanks!!

* It is a very nice scent. The Vanilla really compliments things, but isn't dominant. However, it is the first Vetiver I have tried, so far, so take that with a grain of salt as I don't exactly know what Vetiver is supposed to smell like. Blush
For the price and the amount that you get, it is quite afordable to try and see if you like it. Good luck.

I've actually had some issues with straight vetiver scents being way too cloying - so for me Mike's and Stirling are just too raw and potent. A nice blend though, is Barrister & Mann's Ferox soap, which to my nose has some pine and woodsy notes backed up by vetiver. It is a great combination to me which has a definite vetiver scent to it.

This is true for me too, Fine Fresh Vetiver was too cloying, it had to go. Stirling Port-au-Prince soap strikes the perfect Vetiver note for me, very earthy, not at all cloying.

Cyril R Salter French Vetiver Luxury Shaving Cream.

A huge bowl of shaving cream (200mL/165g) that is a true lather bomb. The scent is a matter of personal taste, some love it, some don't, but for $15, it's well worth a try.

I'd love to try a Jabonman, but I just can't swallow that shipping price... is anyone selling it in the US yet or for a more reasonable shipping cost? Thanks

Can you try to describe the Cavendish scent to me? I find that I either love or just dislike tobacco scents. Madame Scodioli Laudanum is my favorite of all scents, it's a mix of tobacco, black tea and "dark fruits"(?? whatever that means Rolleyes )... but I've disliked a few that were just tobacco scents... thanks

You didn't ask me, but I have Cavendish and it smells just like Pipe Tobacco to me. If you remember every having a Tobacco Lane in your local mall, it smells like walking in there. I think it's an absolutely wonderful scent. Hopefully others will chime in to help further.

I don't know what Vetiver is really supposed to smell like, but I love Barrister & Mann's Ferox, as well as Vetiver, Heather & Clary Sage. And I just grabbed a tub of RazoRock's Nervous Wreck from IB and it smells wonderful to me as well.
