I keep seeing in the SOTD threads people who post that they used this or that brush with a HIS knot in it. Fill me in, please?

Mike, I presume most folks have extracted the knot from these brushes and transplanted it into a custom handle.

I have two customs with H.I.S. knots. Both knots were extracted from stock handles by the brush maker Oscar11.

I contacted the manufacturer, and they are not interested in selling the knots.

Mike, thanks. I followed the link that Celestino posted. Those brushes are $43 or so as is. Is there something you dislike about the brushes, or do you just particularly like the knots but prefer them in a custom handle?

I like the knots very much. The stock handle is not bad, a little on the large side for many people. But having occasional fits of SBAD, I want some variety and I want my favorite knot in some more attractive and interesting handles. That's why I pursued the custom route. Actually, I'm contemplating another HIS re-handle in the near future.

FWIW, you can get a pur-tech know off ebay from Virginia Sheng for not much.
The HIS brushes got a super-hype attention because they were novel in the material of the fiber for the time, but they were abysmal brushes, IMO, due to the loft height that rendered a good knot poor.

I have a H.I.S. brush with a 28mm knot and I love it. I kind of like the bigger handle also. Nothing really wrong with it. It performs quite well. You can't go wrong for the price.

I wish i could find a H.I.S knot sold separately
I don't like the big handles.
