The Taylor of Old Bond Street fibres shaving brush didnt make it,I mean,I didnt like it enough to keep it on my shave nook,so I decided to get rid of the fibres knot using the steaming method,as you can see here :

And this is how it looks like now :

The knot should be around 20 mm.I know that with a finest badger knot this handle would look GORGEOUS,but I have enough finest badger brushes now,so I was thinking in putting another badger knot.I have tried the Super Badger fan knot with great results as well as the silvertip Grade A.Of course,Im talking about the knots from
Fountain Pen parts - NIBS, - Wholesale Fountain Pen Ink - Golden Nib AZ
badger hair shaving brushes and knots, wholesale pricing

So help me to decide what badger knot should I put in this handle.

Hi Teiste

Personally I'm nothing but impressed with TGN Finest and plan to get a 24mm one to put in a Rodney Neep handle...

I'm also very impressed with TGN Silvertip Grade A and Super Silvertip. I don't think TGN Silvertip Grade A believe TGN Super Silvertip comes in a 20mm knot, therefore I would settle on a 20mm TGN Super Silvertip Silvertip Grade A, set at a final height of 46 to 48mm.

Good luck with the brush re-knotting and I look forward to seeing photos of the completed project.

Take care, Mike

Edit: Get my TGN Silvertip grades in order.

TGN Finest 46 mm fan is my pick. As a reference, I have TGN Finest 22/48 fan, Finest 22/50 bulb, Silvertip Grade A 22/50 bulb, Silvertip 22/49 bulb.

I selected Silvertip Grade A. I've heard of super, silvertip, finest, best, pure... but never a Grade A after it. So, I'm a bit curious as to what's that like!

Finest bulb set under 50mm, short lofted silvertip grade A set at maybe 45mm loft or a super low loft finest fan. At higher loft ratios the fans seem to get a little moppy.

Nice handle

Descriptions from the TGN website to aid with helping Tieste make a selection:

Super Silvertip
Top of the line, soft creamy white natural tips well packed.

Silvertip Grade A
Soft creamy white natural tips, well packed.

Silvertip
Standard grade, not as soft as the above knots, greyish silver tips very well packed, good backbone, great value.

Super Badger
Super badger is treated silvertip. This makes the tips whiter and softer. Very high quality knot, soft tips well packed available in Bulb or Fan shapes.

Best Badger
Flexible and soft bristles with a bit of stiffness; great for massaging and exfoliation. Blend of dark and light badger hair to create a gray look.

Finest Badger
Creamy white tips that fade to black, sometimes refered to as two band. Fairly soft tips well packed good with soaps and creams. Available in fan & bulb shapes

I voted 20mm Silvertip Grade A. It seems to be a nice soft hair (and different than the Finest that Teiste already have), whilst maintaining a nice amount of backbone.

I've been considering one of those myself. Smile
