Kind of looks like the Muhle Stylo, or the Edwin Jagger version. I wonder if it is a rebranded Jagger or Muhle?

Nope, that's not a Muhle / EJ head (look at the studs and the zone around them, the lines are different), though it is identical to an old Parker head (they recently changed, now branded "INDIA"), or maybe a Pearl ?

The handle has a great finish, but the head looks cheaper IMHO

It will be disappointing if it is simply a rebranded razor that Simpson sells for twice the price that it costs elsewhere. Hopefully Simpson will choose to market a very high quality unique product, perhaps even made of brass or better yet, stainless steel.

I expect the head to come from someone since I don't think they have a casting area (unless that's going to be added to the new location Tongue ), but the handle I hope is from their own shop since they have the means to turn some pretty amazing handle shapes in addition to a great selection of colors/rods.

From this angle, the head kind of looks like an EJ DE89/Muhle R89.

I think that's because all manufacturers want to copy it, but I'm pretty sure this head is different. Here are some detailed images, to help illustrate my thoughts :

First a Muhle R89 head :

Note the smooth lines of the bottom plate, the latter has no hard angles around the studs.

Now let's look at a Parker head (old model from 2013 or before) from a "12R" :

Note that there is a rectangle in which the studs appear, creating hard angle borders on the edges of the head.

Now if you look closely at the Simpson razor, you can see a very very similar rectangle :

So I'm thinking this Simpson head might come from the same manufacturer (I'm not sure Parker makes his razor heads, do they ?!)

I'm sorry if I'm not clear here, I'm French Blush so please don't hesitate to tell me if I have to elaborate Wink

Parker makes their own heads, yes.
The same for Pearl, they produce their heads also. Both companies are from India. Smile

I hope there is something distinctive about any Simpson DE, and that it's not just chrome plated zinc alloy / pot metal.

I think you will find out the base plate is more like the RazoRock SLAB and/or my newer PARKER 3 piece....more aggressive than the older Merkur Clones...and even Edwin Jagger/Muhle....there is a difference.....(perhaps even the TIMOR I just received which is a step up also in blade gap)(more aggressive)
