The "single edge May" challenge on the General board got me to thinking.
Would there be any interest in doing a theme SOTD thread each month? You could participate as much or little as you like, of course.
Being a pun-based organism, I thought of a couple:
Feb-boar-ary
RazoRocktober
Simp-tember (Simpsons brushes)

I think a number of folks probably would participate in this kind of thing. I doubt that I would, although I would be interested in following other people's experiences in the posts. I just don't like my daily options to be limited at all, except of course by the limitations of my nook itself.

I don't really like to be limited, either. That's why my participation in threads like "30 days of.." etc don't ever work out.
My idea of a theme is more like place to share the shaves that fit into it. If you want to use the theme ingredients every day, go for it. If you want to do so one time and make one post, the more the merrier.
Some I might go for daily. By the time October comes around I'll have at least 5 lather products from RR, so "RazoRocktober" wouldn't be a big burden for me. Ju-limes, on the other hand, would leave me with 1 aftershave and 2 soaps - not something I would want to stick with for a month straight.

It's not like it must be a Challenge month as the present SE month is.
Exactly! I envisioned something more like Mournful Monday. Participate when and if you feel like it.
I suggested months because weeks have no names, plus there are only 12 months. Weeks could work, though.

How about establishing various themed threads and contribute on the basis of when the mood takes you...?
Threads could be themed:
Geographically: eg. German, French, Italian SOTD threads...
Size: e.g. Biggest SOTD thread (your biggest brush, biggest scuttle, biggest bottle of A/S etc...
Cost: Luxury SOTD, Budget SOTD threads...
The ideas are endless.
A commitment however to an entire week or month may be off putting for some, why not establish say the weekend as being themed and you choose to add to various established ongoing themed threads...

It's not just the commitment to the month, though. The Other Board has weekly themes in the SOTD thread, and I stopped posting there because I had no interest in participating in whatever the 'theme' was, and there is - even if it isn't intentional - an expectation that you are 'supposed' to participate in whatever the ongoing theme is.
I do kind of like 'mournful Mondays', and remember a chap on said other board who used to do 'frugal Thursday' (where he would use inexpensive products.)

I agree...I am not a fan of the weekly (and especially monthly) themes. I was teasing about the Johnny Shave June.
