I'm planning to purchase a few soaps from Stirling. If I purchase full pucks I will only be able to afford about 3 of them. If I purchase samples I can get a much larger variety.
On the website the samples are listed as about 2 oz. Since a lot of soaps come in a 2.5 oz size, that sounds quite generous to me.
Has anyone purchased their samples and can you tell me how long one of them lasts? It seems to me it might be smart to purchase a bunch of samples first, find out which ones I really, really like, before I make full puck purchases. Your thoughts and experiences are much appreciated.

Although I have never used any of the Sterling Soaps I have read great reviews on them. I think I would so for the samples so I could determine which ones I like best. A 2 oz chuck of soap should give you many, many shaves. Just my opinion.

That's my thought as well. He has so many scents it would be a shame not to try as many as I can, but I'd love to get more than a couple of shaves from them.
Thanks, Johnny.

Some brush vendors include them with brushes they sell...I too, did not like the Napoleon or the Ben Franklin scent (but the soap lather is wonderful despite the scent), but I did like the Rose, which he no longer shows on his website...it's a slick soap and I don't use an as milk after I shave with his Rose, so I have to assume the other soaps are like that, too.

I'd go for the sample sizes...they are malleable and you can press them into a dish of your liking, and they give an enormous amount of shaves, so samples are the way to go really.

If you have any liking for Menthol pick up one of the Glacial offerings. My fave is the Obsidian.

Rod's samples are big (about 1/4 puck). Each sample might last about a month of continuous usage.
That's about a year's worth of soap you got there.

I just received a shipping notification for the samples that I ordered. I picked Frozen Tundra, Obsidian, Gin&Tonic, MITA, Sandalwood, and Wintergreen. I hope they are all as good as the reviews I've read.

Celestino, thanks. I'm looking forward to trying them out. Eengler, yeah, I like menthol, but I like a variety of scents as well. I think MITA and C.O. Bigelow will cover menthol, for now. There are so many scents Stirling offers. I'll probably order samples here and there until I try them all. After I pick my favorite 3 from this batch and order full pucks of those, that is.

Go with the Full Pucks. Stirling Soaps are great and chances are if you like the description, you will love the soap. It will also save you from revisiting sooner then you have to and paying another shipping charge. Although, I am always there wanting to try more and more so Samples may also be a wise decision. Either way you will be back for more! Haha.

I love the samples! I picked up a number of sample size shave soaps from Rod in the last few months. The first time I bought 3 samples with some other items just to try his products out. I'm really impressed with his soaps and have enjoyed all of them. I have really been enjoying these sample pucks. They are big enough to last a month and it's great to always have a new soap to try. FWIW, I would recommend a large selection of samples and have fun trying out the scents. Either way, I expect you will enjoy the products.

I like the idea of the samples. I like to have variety in my shave soaps. I feel like full-sized pucks last way too long. The samples solve that problem.

They lather great and shave great. Enjoy!
