I had been looking for a display case for my straights and just never found anything I really liked, and I am not good with woodworking. So a few weeks ago I drove my wife crazy by starting to build a "floating display" for my straights. I had a blank area to the left of my display shelves and decided to make use of it. I took some 2" screws and aluminum and plastic spacers and started drilling a ton of holes in my wall much to the dismay of my wife who could not see how this would look when done.

I popped the screws half way in and painted each spacer with "grip it" rubber / vinyl paint which is meant for tools. I popped on three or so coats onto each of the 48 spacers finally when the third coat dried I screwed them the rest of the way into the wall and painted each with the paint from the wall itself. I then hung 4 "plant" hangers below that for my strops.

Reminds me of a menu in a Chinese Restaurant. Take one from Group A, and one from Group B etc. I like it. Makes making a combination easy in the morning.

The lens was in wide mode, they are not spaced quite as far apart as they appear. I could not squeeze 5 columns in there w/o one of them butting up against the wall.

Nice and easy. Well done!

Unfortunately neither the screws nor the nice floating shelves would do the trick out here in earthquake country.
