I've been wet shaving for a number of years, but started shaving my head about 3 years ago. I went the HeadBlade route for a while, but kept coming back to wet shaving for comfort. I'd been using my grandfather's Gillette Shorty L1 until I dropped it and it broke. It wasn't a great razor for daily shaving for sure (too short and too light). Then I went to a Merkur 23c. It was an improvement with Feather blades, but ironically, the handle was too long and skinny for my taste. I also wanted a little more heft. So, recently I've purchased a Merkur Progress and paired it with Israeli Personnas (Crystals). I did a head and face shave last night for the first time with it. BBS and zero irritation! Best shave of my life. The extra time to wet shave is well worth the results.

Now, I'm off to find a brush that suits me. I have a Omega Pro 48, but the handle is just too big for me to appropriately grip at the knot. Otherwise it lathers great. So I went with an Escali 100% Pure. That was a waste of $13. I guess you get what you pay for. However, I think the far superior Omega was only about $15. The Omega handle is just too big, and it (the handle) just looks and feels cheap with the seam down the side and obvious plastic with sticker label.

Anyways, this looks like a good community and I'm happy to be here.

Yeah, I like the Pro 48 as far as quality, but the handle is just too big. Do you have a model in mind?

And thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
