I was running out of space for my brushes. I came across this badly painted, old shadow box at an antiques store. I took it home, stripped it back and varnished it, mounted it (floating..took a bit of thinking about) and put most of my brushes up (I have about another 12 in boxes in different places).

The shadow box dates from the 1940s, maybe a little earlier, made from an Australian hardwood of some kind. It's gloss varnished, in keeping with the original look, not that I use gloss much any more. I think it looks great hanging in my bathroom.

Enjoy, chaps.

Very nice, I like to see what I have so I remember to use it. This fits that bill.

I think it looks excellent, Shaun, displaying the brushes well and making them easily accessible yet relatively secure. I have been using an old printer's drawer mounted in a similar way, but I find that some of my larger brushes are a little bit unstable on the narrow shelves. Good job with yours.
