My son has been serving a church service mission the past two years and it's been that long since I've seen him. He is now 21. He was stationed in or near Birmingham England and Wales. We got him back last night and he brought me a surprise. Please understand that he knows absolutely nothing at this point about wet shaving. He pulled out a bag that had a box of Kent (MWF) shave soap in a wooden bowl and one replacement puck. I couldn't have been happier.

In that past two years I have invested a tidy little sum putting him together a wet shaving set up worth having, with the hope he would pick this up. It includes a couple of pretty fair razors (Muhle and Merkur), a couple of decent brushes (Vulfix and a custom made by me TGN), a shaving mug, a sampler pack of a dozen different packs of blades, a half dozen different shave soaps, aftershaves, shave balms, pre-shave oil, brush and razor stands, alum block, styptic pencil and the list goes on. I literally got him everything he needs to give wet shaving a fair shot without wanting for a bit.

We exchanged shave gear last night and he asked if I wouldn't show him how to get started. I was so proud. Of course, Delta lost his luggage with no update to this point. He had to go out and get a few things. After having been away for two years as you might imagine, I've seen him for all of about an hour today. I'm hoping we'll get to the shaving this evening. Life is good.

I'd like to tell you that it had happened but in 4 days I've hardly seen him. He's been getting ready for school, getting the old job back and renewing old friendships. He hasn't tried any of it yet but it will happen.
