What is the opinion of this vs the R89, R41 (new head).

Looking for a razor that is a bit more aggressive than the R89. I have tried the Merkur 38C and for some reason my face did not get along well with the 38C.

Is an adjustable the answer?

Thanks

Muhle currently makes only two types of DE heads regardless of what handle you pair to them. The R89 is the AOS Grande version of the standard head which is equal to the EJ head and fairly mild but gives a nice shave. The R41 2013' version head is called "toothed" head and is on the aggressive side but gives a very close shave with little effort. The two heads are interchangeable with any Muhle handle and for that matter with just about any other aftermart handle.

For the money I would look at the Merkur Progress. It's adjustable and you might find it shaves from R89 to near 2013 R41 levels. IMO it's a great razor.

Too many razors to list, but the Progress is a great adjustable giving you many different options of aggressiveness. Good luck.

Yeah, I think this was mentioned but the R106 is the same thing as the R89 just with a black handle. Same as the R102 is the same as an R41 with a white handle.

If you're looking for a standard bar razor that is slightly more aggressive than the EJ/Muhle head I'd suggest the RazoRock Mission. Its only $20 and is a great razor - just a little more aggressive than the R89/DE89. Or, if you have a few extra bucks to spend the Weber PH is an awesome razor; good heft, a little more aggressive than the Mission, and is made of stainless steal.
