This thread is about the "original" 3 Band Heritage brushes Rooney used to market prior to the now famed "gel" 2 Band Heritage line.

These brushes are characterized with very soft 3 Band hair that is stuffed incredibly dense giving this knot a unique combination of softness AND backbone, that you otherwise would only find with some 2 Band brushes (e.g. 2012+ Simpson 2 Band).

Current 3 Band offerings in Heritage handles feature very different Super hair.

These brushes were produced around 2008-10 and had a brief revival in 2012 when Classic Shaving sold a remaining batch.

I have been hunting down this hair ever since and over time got my hand on three very fine specimen: Alibaba 2 & 3 and an Emillion .

Below are mentioned brushes.

Please post here with pics, if you own any of the Original Rooney Super 3 Band knots.

And in the event you want to sell yours: I am still looking for a Stubby 2...

Biggrin

I had that Emillion during part of 2009. Probably the best face-latering brush, feel-wise, I've ever used. But what a lather-eater. Big bloomer, like pictured. I didn't get to try Simpsons 2-band Supers 'til later so it's hard to compare, but I believe I preferred the Emillion's touch and Simpsons' flowthrough. Beautiful specimens.

Here is my Rooney style 1 size 2 in a faux horn to add to the thread. Incredibly soft tips and incredibly dense and such a pleasure to use.

Maybe some day I will finally get to try a Rooney. Seems hard to get because most vendors don't carry them.

I've a "2" heritage ~2008 that's unquestionably the densest, most thieving brush I've seen or used (& sadly I have to used at least 200 brushes by now). Intense scrub, zero prickle. Very cool piece of impracticality.

I agree they can be lather hogs... I understand there were also some super dense "Chubby/Stubby" part of the line up which were truly überdense and close to unusable... Biggrin

Georg, I used to have one of their 1XL Heritage Stubbys, but I just found the handle too small for me; great hair, though! Biggrin

^^Thought I had the above unused Stubby 2 brush I bought off Ben and was going to sell it to German as I know he was seeking early Heritage 3 bands It turned out to be gel tip 2 band and unfortunately for him I just had to keep it as it is likely one of the best 2 band brushes I own- think 2XL gel tip with less density and better flow. I also own that same style handle in a 30mm early M&F 2 band beast. Can't wait to see some more posts so I can hound you via pm!

I had an Alibaba 2 but that seems to have run off to find a better home Tongue.

Here is the Victorian which decided it could put up with me so it stuck around.

I am not one of the most talented photography guys around here, as you can tell. But everything Georg said about these brushes is true and they are a real pleasure!
