A beautiful-looking brush, yet to be delivered to me in Sydney Australia. I was spurred on with recent memories of Gillette Coronation Sets (Set 45) containing a fairly straightforward Tech with etched head going for large amounts of money on auction sites (but why?), and I thought, well, this has got to be a collectible. So I collected it Smile It would go nice with a Gillette Coronation 58, too. 1953 for those that don't know the year of the Coronation of ER.

Here it is:

Nice brush. I hope you have Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee brush to go with it.

A great collectable. I like everything about this brush. The handle has a unique shape, the ivory color is beautiful, and the knot has a nice shape

Chaps

Here is the brush, washed and combed.

When it arrived, the hair was flattened out as it had been lying down for years and years. What a bloom, though! I hand-lathered it and it certainly has plenty of backbone, that's for sure. If it's not two-band (you tell me) it is certainly VERY close.

The knot is 21mm; not the biggest, but well big enough. This is quite a hefty brush, too. It weighs in at 85g. The Chubby 2 in Best weighs in at 83g, just to give you some perspective.

When it was advertised, it didn't show the label on the handle, or the stamp indicating "Pure Badger" which I am now proud to share with you.

I have never seen another like it. Anyone?

Very very nice find. The overall appearance is very classy and the hair looks all ready to go after your shampooing. Great add to your collection.. now it requires you to get the matching razor, its the only proper thing to do!

Thanks for sharing the wonderful pics. What a beautiful brush. Will this sit on a shelf as a collectible or will you be using it in the rotation?

I have used it, yes, but will maintain it as a collectible. I just purchased a Gillette #45 Coronation Set (aluminium tech) from the wonderful Jack to complement it.

I'd love other Coronation Sets, but they rarely come up, and are sometimes outrageously expensive. One is an Aristocrat, for example (#66).

I don't own an Aristocrat at all Sad One of these days. I really like the #14/#15/#20 OC.
